In the Stars August 7-14, 2022 ... shining light on the astrology of the week: Full Moon

The Sun continues to shine in fun-loving Leo tropically. Four planets are retrograde, drawing us into greater reflection: Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto. Uranus will join the retrograde brigade on August 24th.

Mars has been conjunct Uranus and the North Node this past week, an extremely volatile configuration. Mars squares Saturn on August 7th, adding tension, but then as Mars continues to move forward the pressure will ease. This powerful combination could propel you to start on a big project that has been on your mind, solve a problem, or turn in a new direction. The energy can be destructive or generative.

The Full Moon forms on Thursday in a tense, dynamic combination. The Moon conjuncts Saturn. Uranus and the nodal axis square the Sun and Moon. This Full Moon is a call for big change in our lives. We may feel pressed to make defining decisions.

The Sagittarius Moon trines the Leo Sun, supporting dynamic, creative projects and adventures. However, a Mars-Saturn square may put the brakes on, although it can also give focus. Energies are intense, and this day could be a defining one in some aspect of your life. Venus is active in a square to Eris and a trine to Neptune. One aspect creates tension, and the other eases it. The day ends on a practical, measured note as the Moon sextiles Saturn.

The Moon is void of course Monday morning until 11:38 a.m. when it moves into hard-working Capricorn. After a slow, undefined start to the week, we get organized and move into high gear in the light of the Capricorn Moon. A Venus-Pluto opposition stirs passions. There may be an element of surprise before the day ends, due to a Moon-Uranus trine. A benefic Moon-Mercury trine can help us communicate and solve problems.

Tuesday harbors another productive work day. The Moon squares Chiron, reminding us to tend to self care. A Moon-Uranus trine may bring a new realization, perhaps from veering off our usual path.

Wednesday is the turbulent day this week when the Moon aspects the Eris-Pluto square. Tensions increase due to Uranus' square to the nodal axis. Adding to the already challenging mix is a Moon-Venus opposition that may contribute to salty relations with friends and loved ones.

Thursday’s Full Moon is an especially dynamic one. The Moon conjuncts Saturn, and Uranus and the nodal axis are in square aspect to the Sun and Moon. This alignment begs great change. Restlessness and rebelliousness abound. This Full Moon is near the last Saturn-Uranus square near exact in early October. It demands the changes that have been pulsing through us the past two years. Venus moves into generous, creative Leo for the next few weeks, generating heart-felt connections.

The Moon squares Mars on Friday, initiating a tumultuous start to the day. The planets are quieting from yesterday’s turbulence. The Moon’s ingress into Pisces will amplify inspiration, compassion, and a sense of ease.

Saturday is fairly quiet on the cosmic front. The Pisces Moon’s sextile to Uranus invites opportunity and surprise.

Sunday is a day of mixed planetary energies. A Pisces Moon-Neptune conjunction melts into the flow of time. The Moon’s sextile to Mars and Pluto adds energy and passion. The Moon is void of course from 8:10 a.m. to 1:42 p.m. PDT, after which the Moon bounces into vibrant Aries. While the Moon is VoC, it is best to work on routine, insignificant tasks, and refrain from activities requiring decisions. It is difficult to make good judgments sometimes when the Moon is VoC. In the evening the Moon makes a benefic trine to creative Leo, drawing us into new endeavors for the week ahead.

The work week starts with an energetic bounce on Monday as the Moon and Jupiter conjunct in Leo. This ushers in the last week of the Sun’s stay in tropical Leo. Summer vacations are coming to an end, so enjoy the Sun and the fun in the week ahead.

The Week in Short:

Sunday: Dynamic day to make things happen, but you may feel like you are driving with the brakes on. Practicality and restraint reign as the evening wears on. There is good for planning the week ahead.

Monday: Moon VoC 3:30 a.m. – 11:38 a.m. PDT, after which lean in, get organized, and work hard. Passion is stirred; a surprise may occur.

Tuesday: Productive work day. New pathways may be discovered.

Wednesday: Turbulent, tense day. Connections may be edgy.

Thursday: Full Moon demands change. Restlessness and rebelliousness abound.

Friday: Tumultuous day, yet it flows with compassion and inspiration.

Saturday: Quiet day that invites opportunity and surprise.

Sunday: The day begins with creative flow, and a void of course Moon until 1:42 p.m when the Moon bounces into energetic Aries and invites engaging in projects.

Monday: Optimistic, energetic day. Make it fun!

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
