In the Stars May 7-14, 2023 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

The Sun continues to shine in Taurus tropically, highlighting stability, financial security, and pleasure of all kinds such as good food, uplifting music, arousing smells, and beauty. The solar month of Taurus invites beauty, delight, and romance.

Mercury is retrograde until May 14th, and its shadow period lasts until May 31st. There is one more week to review, reconsider, revise, and renovate.

Sunday invites an active weekend adventure in the light of the Sagittarius Moon. Venus moves into Cancer, encouraging engagement in home and family activities. We hold to hope and healing in the day’s offerings, due to a Moon-Chiron trine.

The work week Monday starts with the buoyancy of the Sagittarius Moon. The Moon is void of course from 1:27 p.m. to 4:32 p.m. PDT during which time it is best to focus on routine tasks rather than meetings or anything requiring decisions and definition. At 4:32 p.m. PDT the Moon moves into Capricorn, drawing us to work on plans in the evening for a productive work week ahead.

Tuesday is an industrious day framed for practical conversations (Capricorn Moon trines Mercury in Taurus). We can address hurt feelings and care for loved ones. Toward evening we turn to address our own needs.

A Moon-Mars opposition early Wednesday morning may cause us to lash out against others. It would be better to channel this aggressive energy into a challenging exercise routine or a project to which we need to apply strong energy. As the day unfolds and the Moon moves into Aquarius, we seek freedom, and may feel rebellious. Venus sextiles the North Node, which can build bonds.

Tension and discord abound on Thursday as the result of a Moon-Mercury retrograde square, and a more aggressive Mars-Eris square. Mars is in Cancer; act like a crab (Cancer’s symbol) and sidestep conflict. Invoking the care and compassion of Cancer will help as well.

May 13-15 Saturn and Venus form a trine, and Mercury sextiles the these planets. This configuration augurs well for sensibility and diplomacy in matters of love and finance. On Friday a Moon-Uranus square may throw some curveballs into the mix. Get together with friends for a social evening.

Saturday is graced by a Pisces Moon that calls out artistic expression, or sauntering through gardens or art galleries. A Moon-Venus trine enables us to glow with softness and good cheer.

Sunday’s benefic sextiles of the Pisces Moon to Uranus and the Sun add a twist to the day and heighten intuition. The Moon’s trine to the Sun stirs creative expression. Mercury turns direct, and while communication will start to clear, this day of the station, or turning direction, may bring confusion and mistakes, so be patient and forgiving

Leaving behind a soft and slow weekend, we get moving as the work week begins Monday and the Moon bounces into active, fiery Aries. The Moon sextiles Pluto, amplifying the energy for action. Mars trines Neptune, supporting a leap of faith.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
