In the Stars November 20-27, 2022 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

On Tuesday, November 22 the Sun moves out of the dark, murky waters of Scorpio and into the bright, expansive light of Sagittarius. After an intense eclipse season, we are ready for the social gaiety of the Sagittarius glow of the season.

There have been a number of significant events this past week: the confirmation of the Democratic Senate, the confirmation of the Republican House; Nancy Pelosi’s announcement not to seek House leadership; Trump’s announcement of his intention to run for the 2024 presidential election; and the mass exodus of Twitter employees.

Mars is retrograde until January 12th, encouraging us to re-work old projects. Continue to read, converse, write, listen, and learn. Mars and Venus are now out of bounds (OOB). Mercury will go OOB on November 23rd, and the Moon will go OOB on November 24th. Mars will be OOB for nearly six months until May 4th. Planets are OOB when their declination is more than 23 degrees, 27 minutes. When planets are out of bounds their energy is wild, unique, and extraordinary. The planet expresses itself unbounded, or without limits. Mars retrograde and OOB in Gemini these next few months will be fascinating to watch. People may be much more courageous and outspoken than usual. Because Mars is explosive and impulsive, volatile energy may be unleashed.

Sunday is a golden day of ease. The Sun trines Jupiter, giving optimism and generosity of spirit. Jupiter is slowing to a standstill, readying to turn direct in motion in three days. The Libra Moon forms a grand air trine with Mars and Saturn. Problems seem manageable and solvable.

In contrast to Sunday, the week begins with stormy weather on Monday. After early morning agitation due to a Moon-Pluto square, the Moon moves into the dark, brooding waters of Scorpio. Venus and Mercury conjunct in Sagittarius, inviting us to think about adventure and spreading our wings. We’re also gearing up to engage in the season’s upcoming holiday celebrations.

Tuesday the Sun moves out of the dark, murky waters of Scorpio into the bright, optimistic light of Sagittarius. However, the dark Scorpio Moon cannot yet embrace the buoyancy the Sagittarius Sun offers. The Moon makes its weekly connection with the Saturn-Uranus square, enabling us to break patterns if we can roll with diversions and surprises. The day ends with the Moon’s benefic trine to Neptune, carrying us off to dreamland.

Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, is a golden day with ample good planetary energy. The Scorpio Moon makes a benefic sextile to powerful Pluto and visionary Neptune, lifting and expanding our spirits. Jupiter turns direct in motion and makes a benefic trine to the New Moon in Sagittarius, the sign that Jupiter rules. This largest planet symbolizes higher knowledge, wisdom, optimism, opportunity, and abundance. Wednesday is full of these qualities. This is a day to go higher and wider and expand your horizons. As it marks the beginning of a new lunar cycle, it is a day to set goals and perhaps to make plans for travel or higher learning.

Thanksgiving Day Thursday the Sagittarius Moon conjuncts Mercury and Venus, fostering friendly, open, expansive conversations around the holiday’s gatherings. It’s always a good day for a party when the Moon is in Sagittarius. As the day wears on the Moon opposes Mars, and this aspect could result in heated discussions. Moderate alcohol consumption, which is always a good thing to do, but particularly so when the planetary energies make us prone to conflict and the loosening of tongues.

Friday is a sober, industrious day as the Moon moves into earth sign Capricorn. This planetary energy aids us in cleaning up after Thanksgiving festivities. There are several edgy aspects, so expect a few challenges in your day. Lean in and work hard.

Saturday beckons an industrious work day where much is accomplished. There may be some disappointments to deal with (Moon square Chiron), as well as some surprising opportunities (Moon trine Uranus).

Sunday begins with a determined Moon-Pluto conjunction, making demands on a productive, results-oriented morning. There may be a few unexpected twists and turns in light of Mercury’s aspect to Uranus. The Moon moves into Aquarius at 2:06 p.m. PDT, after which we may be able to imagine some innovative solutions to current issues.

The week begins Monday with a Mars-Saturn trine, giving capacity to hard work. The Aquarius Moon makes a benefic sextile to Venus in the afternoon, and then the Moon squares Uranus. These aspects signal a time to pause for social interactions and diversions. We can talk things over in light of a Mercury-Moon sextile, and then bring the day to a close when the Moon conjuncts Saturn at bedtime (10:53 p.m. PDT).

The Week in Short:

Sunday: Golden, optimistic day. Problems seem manageable and solvable.

Monday: Turbulent, stormy emotional day. Spread your wings.

Tuesday: Sun moves into Sagittarius. Dark Moon; take some space to close the lunar cycle. Expect diversions.

Wednesday: Golden day! Jupiter turns direct. New Moon in Sagittarius. Set goals and be expansive.

Thanksgiving Day Thursday: Great party day for good, generative conversations. Take care not to overshare or make divisive comments that could result in conflict.

Friday: Industrious day, perhaps with a few surprises.

Saturday: Strong work day with diversions and unexpected events.

Sunday: Productive day with good results and Innovative solutions.

Monday: Hard work demanded, but with time later in the day for socializing and talking things over.

Ten Things to Do with the Venus in Sagittarius (November 15-December 9, 2022) 1. Invite someone to dinner from a different culture. 3. Plan your next long-distance trip (or make a wish list). 3. Read a book about a unknown country, culture, or religion. 4. Expand your knowledge of metaphysics. 5. Write! 6. Visit a religious art exhibit. 7. Explore philosophy through a book, book-on-tape, or a lecture. 8. Take a hike or bike ride (Sagittarius rules the thighs).

9. Express appreciation to your in-laws. 10. Venus in Sagittarius is idealistic in love: read some love poems that transport you to the ideal!

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
