Cathy Coleman, Ph.D., is an East-West Astrologer. She holds a doctoral degree in East-West psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) and has been a practitioner of astrology for over 35 years. 

 

Cathy's introduction to astrology came to her when she was 16 through her brilliant younger brother Gehrig, who throughout her life opened doors for her. As a result of a life transition in her early twenties, she moved to Houston, Texas where she attended her first astrology course in 1976, taught by renowned financial astrologer Jeanne Long. I was then off and running in her astrological career.

In 1981 she moved to San Francisco to work on her doctorate at CIIS). She studied astrology with Professor Ralph Metzner, who would become her husband in 1988. At CIIS knowledge of astrology was prevalent, common water cooler conversation, and her knowledge of astrology grew rapidly.

​

In addition to her CIIS doctoral degree, she was in the first graduating class of the Online College of Astrology (OCA), and the Online College of Vedic Astrology, and has studied for several years with Komilla Sutton (see www.komillaacademy.com). She is a perennial student of different traditions and techniques of astrology, and knowledgeable about numerous esoteric systems of thought. She holds PAA’s (Professional Astrologers’ Alliance) Level IV Certification as a Consulting Astrologer; ACVA (American College of Vedic Astrology) Certification; Komilla Academy Jyotishi, and is an ISAR (International Society for Astrological Research) Certified Astrological Professional.  ​

Her mission is to help people more fully express the potential of their lives and navigate challenges using ancient and modern astrological knowledge and wisdom.

 

Trained in both Western and Eastern methods of psychology, philosophy, and astrology, she incorporates mulitiple astrological perspectives, principles, and analyses into her work.

Tropically, her Sun is in Virgo, Moon in Sagittarius, and Ascendant in Aries.  Sidereally, or from a Jyotish perspective, her Sun is in Leo, Moon in Sagittarius, and Ascendant in Pisces. She lives in Sonoma, California, and was grateful to be married to the late consciousness pioneer Ralph Metzner, and has an adult son and daughter, Elias and Sophia.
