In the Stars April 24-May 1, 2022...shining light on the astrology of the week: Solar Eclipse

The Sun is now in Taurus, encouraging nourishment, growth, and pleasure. In addition to this being a good month for gardening, consider what else you want to plant and grow in your life. Taurus also symbolizes money and resources which grow over time when tended.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are what astrologers Ralph and Lahni DeAmicis call white circle days, when the day denotes mostly supportive aspects. On their planetary calendar, they quote Steinbeck’s saying to describe the white circle days: “The world is spinning in greased grooves.” www.PlanetaryCalendar.com.

Pluto is slowing down and will turn retrograde on Friday, April 29th. As it nears its station, Pluto symbolism becomes stronger. On April 30th there is a Solar Eclipse that is conjunct Venus and Uranus, giving tremendous creative potential. The explosive, intense energies can be used for good as well as they may fan the flames of war and conflict. Hidden information continues to pour forth about the January 6th revolution in light of the Venus-Jupiter-Neptune conjunction. The Russia-Ukraine conflict appears to be intensifying with the surge of Plutonian influences and the Solar Eclipse.

Powerful, volatile energies can also be employed for good. Tremendous energy is available for accomplishment, transformation, and change. Jupiter is conjunct Neptune, an inspiring combination that invites us to let our imagination soar and dream new possibilities.

Discernment and focus can be applied to practical matters such as finances, as the Moon conjuncts Saturn and squares Mercury on Sunday. Think outside the box. Imagine solutions. Tune into the plight of the Ukrainians, and overall humanitarian rights concerns, and plan steps to help.

We ease into Monday gently with the Moon in Pisces. Pisces calls forth compassion and charity. The days early in the week would be good for donating money to worthy humanitarian causes such as the needs of Ukranian refugees. With Mars conjunct the Moon, we can get steamed up with strong feelings stirred.

Excitement fills the air Tuesday morning with a Moon-Uranus sextile. This aspect invites us to change our routine. The Moon’s benefic conjunction with Venus, Neptune, and Jupiter make it a golden day.

The Moon moves into Aries Wednesday morning, and the day starts with a bounce, as well as rattles with an unsettling, challenging aspect between Mars and Eris. However, Venus perfects in a conjunction with Neptune, drawing us toward someone or something we love.

Thursday’s aspect of the day is a Mercury-Pluto trine that fosters discernment, research, and getting to the truth of matters. We are sensitive around our wounds and insecurities, and are called to address and heal them. The Aries Moon gives courage and enthusiasm to tackle the day’s challenges and opportunities.

Thankfully, we have had a few days of greater ease this week, as Friday is not light, and the Solar Eclipse follows on Saturday. On Friday the bold Aries Moon conjuncts aggressive Eris and square Pluto. Pluto is stationary, turning retrograde. A retrograde planet’s symbolism is especially strong. These planetary alignments are powerful and aggressive, and can be used for good or ill. Employ the explosive energy to plow through a big work project. May the Ukraine be empowered in the battle! The Moon moves into Taurus at 5:18 p.m. PDT, making for an evening of greater ease and pleasure. However, the Moon is at its darkest, a time to draw inward, so a quiet evening at home may be most nourishing.

On Saturday the Moon conjuncts the Sun and forms a New Moon, initiating a new lunar cycle and new beginnings for the month ahead. Uranus conjuncts this New Moon, adding an element of surprise. Venus conjuncts Uranus, giving tremendous creative potential. Additional benefic aspects bring strength and opportunity (Moon-Mars sextile; Saturn-Ceres trine).

Sunday’s aspects give mixed offerings. However, overall the exalted Taurus Moon gives grounding, pleasure, and delight. Disappointments and discipline may be felt as a result of a Moon-Saturn square. A Moon-Neptune sextile offers compassion, vision, and creative expression. In the light of the Taurus Moon, nurture yourself, and say “yes” to life’s simple pleasures.

Words fly on Monday with the Moon in chatty Gemini, and conjunct Mercury, the messenger planet. Venus enters Aries, amplifying the desire for independence in relationships for the next weeks. A testy Mars-Pluto aspect could reveal deep feelings for better or for worse. Think about what you say, as the tendency on Monday will be to let words spill forth rapidly and perhaps carelessly. Monday’s aspects could be good for a writing project in which you allow words to spill fall easily onto paper.

The Week in Short:

Sunday: Apply discernment and focus to practical problems, and think outside the box.

Monday: Gentle, flowing day with strong, compassionate emotions.

Tuesday: Change your morning routine. Golden day. Life flows easily.

Wednesday: Energetic, unsettling morning, after which we settle into the love and beauty that abound in the day.

Saturday: New Moon partial Solar Eclipse. Great creative potential, strength, and opportunity. Keep the day simple.

Sunday: Say yes to life’s simple pleasures.

Monday: Words pour forth. Good day to write. Be careful of carelessly spilling your thoughts.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
