In the Stars April 30-May 8, 2022...shining light on the astrology of the week: Solar Eclipse

On April 30th the Sun and Moon come together in a New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse that is conjunct Uranus. Mars aspects the New Moon by benefic sextile, adding some excitement. While this is volatile energy with Uranus involved, the benefic planets Venus and Jupiter are conjunct and may highlight bright energy and bring blessings.

The Sun is now in Taurus, encouraging nourishment, growth, and pleasure. This is a good time for gardening. Consider what you want to plant and grow in your life. Taurus symbolizes money and resources which grow when tended.

Pluto has just turned retrograde, and will soon be joined in backward motion by Mercury on May 10th and Neptune. Finish travel plans, contracts, and important communication in the next 10 days while Mercury is direct.

Venus, Jupiter and Neptune are conjunct, an inspiring combination that invites us to let our imagination soar, dream new possibilities, and express ourselves creatively. Paint your life more colorful and beautiful.

On Saturday, April 30th, the Moon conjuncts the Sun and forms a New Moon Solar Eclipse, initiating a new lunar cycle, and new beginnings for the month ahead. Uranus conjuncts this New Moon, adding an element of surprise. Venus conjuncts Jupiter, giving tremendous creative potential. Additional benefic aspects bring strength and opportunity (Moon-Mars sextile; Saturn-Ceres trine).

Sunday’s aspects give mixed offerings. The exalted Taurus Moon gives grounding, pleasure, and delight. Disappointments may be felt as a result of a Moon-Saturn square. A Moon-Neptune sextile offers compassion, vision, and creative expression. In the light of the Taurus Moon, nurture yourself, and say “yes” to life’s simple pleasures.

Words fly on Monday with the Moon in chatty Gemini, and conjunct Mercury, the messenger planet. Venus enters Aries, amplifying the desire for independence in relationships for the nextfew weeks. A testy Mars-Pluto aspect could reveal deep feelings for better or for worse. Think about what you say, as the tendency on Monday will be to let words spill forth rapidly and perhaps carelessly. Monday’s aspects could be good for a writing project in which you allow words to spill forth on paper.

Jupiter sextiles Pluto on Tuesday empowering us around big dreams and financial matters. The conversant Gemini Moon squares Mars, prompting us to speak our truth. The Sun conjuncts Uranus for the next few days, perfecting Thursday, encouraging independence, uniqueness, and perhaps bringing some surprises.

Wednesday is full of planetary activity. The early morning’s Moon-Saturn trine sets the day for strong work. Yet, the Moon’s square to Neptune makes us feel at sea in an ocean of possibilities. These aspects invite intuition as part of attaining clarity. A Mars-Uranus sextile energizes the exciting day. The Moon squares Venus and Jupiter, churning up ideas for expansion and possibilities. The Sun-Uranus conjunction is nearly at perfection, and may trigger something surprising. This is a day to engage in strong work; be open to intuitive messages and new possibilities; and to be sensitive to omens and the unexpected.

Thursday is a boisterous, opportune day with the Sun making an exact conjunction with Uranus. Make it a new and exciting day with a change of routine. In addition, the Moon squares Chiron, bringing up sensitive feelings and wounds to be healed. A Moon-Uranus sextile invites us to do something different and make a change in our lives; a Mercury-Venus sextile encourages connections with friends.

A soft Moon-Neptune trine on Friday evening invites us to relax into a movie, or to simply enjoy some time out with family. On the other hand, an unsettling energy comes with the Moon’s edgy aspects to Saturn and Eris, and we ride both the unsettling and relaxing aspects.

The Moon announces a playful weekend as it bounces into Leo early Saturday morning. The Leo Moon makes benefic aspects to Mercury and Venus, offering a pleasant day. Plan a special evening with friends.

On Mother's Day Sunday the creative Leo Moon squares Uranus, steering us off course from routines. The Moon makes a benefic trine to Uranus, igniting change and surprise. Do something new, fun, and out of your routine. Be yourself and have fun.

The Leo Moon opposes Saturn on Monday, drawing us into our work and responsibilities. Then the Moon is void of course for most of the day, indicating that it is best to stick to insignificant routine tasks. At 3:52 p.m. PDT the Moon ingresses into Virgo, heralding that time of the month when it is time to put our lives in order.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
