In the Stars December 12-19, 2021...shining light on the astrology of the week: Full Moon

The Sun shines is in the exuberant sign of Sagittarius tropically for one more week before the Winter Solstice. Venus conjuncts Pluto for the rest of December, sparking deep, passionate feelings. Venus turns retrograde on December 19th; Venus and Pluto are exactly conjunct at 25 degrees of Capricorn December 23-25. This aspect may fuel passion, and may stir relationships, for better or worse. Financial issues may loom large, and may need to be confronted.

On December 18th the Moon reaches its fullness at 27:28 Sagittarius, the place of the Galactic Center of the Milky Way Galaxy. The Sun moves into Capricorn tropically on December 21st.

Mars conjuncts the South Node, also known as Ketu in Vedic astrology. This conjunction marks the beginning of a long Kala Sarpa Yoga period (an alignment named in Vedic astrology) when all of the planets are hemmed in between the North and South Nodes, except for the two weeks each month when the Moon breaks through. This is a tense, restrictive energy which will be in effect from December 13-April 24.

The Saturn-Uranus square tightens toward its third exact aspect December 23rd at 11 degrees of Aquarius-Taurus. This aspect carries strong winds of change.

Take time for self-care on Sunday in light of the Moon-Chiron conjunction. With the Moon in Aries, we are moved to take action. Fire up your day, and aim to get a lot accomplished. A Moon-Saturn benefic sextile will help you plan the day and be disciplined to cut through your tasks.

Mars ingresses into optimistic Sagittarius on Monday, and conjoins the South Node, perhaps evoking karmic events. Mercury ingresses into cautious Capricorn. The Moon conjoins Eris and squares the Pluto-Venus conjunction, rousing deep feelings. A Moon-Jupiter benefic sextile can ease tensions and bring it all together. Monday could be a volatile, yet productive, significant day. Make it count.

Tuesday holds the exalted Taurus Moon, giving strong energy for pleasuring the senses. However, the day is stirred up with the Moon’s dance with the Saturn-Uranus square. The Moon squares Saturn and conjuncts Uranus, highlighting the third exact conjunction of the year coming in 10 days on December 23. We may be pushed out of our comfort zones, and driven to confront much-needed changes.

The Moon’s benefic sextile to Neptune gives the day an easy feeling. The Taurus Moon is in its exaltation, inviting us to enjoy good food, good smells, good music, beautiful surroundings, and ease.

Thursday morning the Moon is void of course (8:08 a.m. – 12:42 p.m. PDT). During this time it is best to focus on routine tasks rather than meetings or things requiring decisions. At 12:42 p.m. PDT the Moon moves into Gemini, and we become more conversational and curious. Engage in a lively afternoon and evening of connection and community.

The Moon moves on through the curious sign of communication, Gemini, on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s Moon-trine-Saturn aspect gives practicality and sensibility. A benefic Moon-Chiron aspect is uplifting. Gather with friends on Friday evening for conversation and connection.

Saturday carries the light of Neptune squaring the Gemini Moon, making it difficult to determine how we want the day to unfold. The Moon is Full, activating the Galactic Center of the Milky Way Galaxy, at its peak perfection of 27:28 degrees of Sagittarius, where the Sun traverses. The Moon trines Jupiter, expanding ideas, generating questions, and inspiring conversation.

Sunday is full of planetary shifts and complex energies. The Moon moves into home and family-oriented Cancer. Venus stations to move retrograde within one degree of Pluto, intensifying relationship issues. Chiron also stations, but moves direct in motion. The Moon makes challenging aspects to Chiron and Mercury. In contrast, an uplifting Sun-Jupiter sextile gives optimism and helps us through any challenges or difficulties in the day.

Monday sports a brilliant Mercury-Uranus trine, pouring forth ideas and solutions to problems. The Moon-Neptune trine gives vision and inspiration.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
