In the Stars February 27-March 6, 2022...shining light on the astrology of the week: New Moon

The Sun is now in Pisces tropically. For the next month, the Sun illuminates qualities of imagination, inspiration, intuition, and creativity. Visit art galleries. Paint pictures. Play music. Write poems. Express your creative inspiration.

As last week, again the week ahead is full of tension. Mars, Venus, and Vesta are conjunct in Capricorn and square to Eris. Mars and Venus will conjunct Pluto mid-week, amplifying anger and strong feelings. The week ahead is conflict-prone. The Russia-Ukraine conflict has broken into war, and the planetary aspects in the coming week will likely fan the flames. If you find yourself engaged in personal conflict, take steps to de-escalate the tension. While Pisces (where the Sun is transiting) is about ease, flow, and compassion, there is a lot of angry, hostile energy in the air again in the coming week. Go carefully and mindfully, and take good care of yourself and others.

Early Sunday morning (6:49 a.m. PST) the Capricorn Moon makes a powerful conjunction with Pluto. Start the day with bold intentions, vigor, and industry. At 10:35 a.m. PST the Moon moves into Aquarius, expanding our thoughts and awareness. Although the Moon’s entry into air sign Aquarius will lighten the energy, the Moon is moving to its darkness before the New Moon on Wednesday. It is time to complete projects in this lunar cycle and draw inward.

The work week begins Monday with the Aquarius Moon making a square aspect to Uranus. There could be a surprising turn of events. On a personal level, consider what needs to change in your life, and how will you influence that change? With Mars and Venus in dependable Capricorn, and the North Node in solid Taurus, we should be able to respond with calm, strength, and reason.

Tuesday morning drifts with a void of course Moon in Aquarius during which it is best to tend to routine tasks rather than to try to accomplish business in meetings. At 12:53 p.m. PST the Moon moves into imaginative Pisces. A Sun-Uranus sextile may offer some surprises. Take time to dream and create in the afternoon or evening. Relax and watch a movie in the evening.

A new lunar cycle begins on Ash Wednesday, the first day of the Christian season of Lent. The New Moon alignment is packed with strong energy, including a conjunction to Jupiter and Neptune. The Moon-Jupiter-Neptune alignment gives vision and inspiration. The New Moon makes an opportune sextile to Uranus, expanding intuition, and opening us to new possibilities. At the same time, the New Moon makes an edgy semi-square to Mars and Pluto which may bring obstacles to work through. The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is: A Sword, Used in Many Battles, is Now in a Museum. Although we are reminded of past battles, the message of the symbolism is to turn toward harmony and forgiveness. It is time to lay down the sword and welcome love and peace. May it be so in the Soviet-Ukraine conflict.

Thursday is a hot, emotionally charged day with Mars and Pluto conjunct in Capricorn. Use this alignment industriously, and dive into a work project with resolve and determination. This is an explosive, angry aspect; employ the strong energy for good. You could vigorously clean house. You could tackle a big problem that needs to be solved. Or you might break an old habit that has been haunting you for some time. Venus is conjunct Pluto; relationships and financial matters may be a focus of change and transformation. The Pisces Moon may help calm the storm, but when the Moon enters Aries at 4:52 p.m. PST, then the highly charged energy will be fueled. Be mindful. The day is tense, but you could make big strides and shifts.

On Friday Mars and Venus perfect in an exact conjunction, and carry the gravity of being conjunct with Pluto within one degree. Friday, like Thursday, is laden with heaviness, though the triple conjunction in Capricorn also holds potential for industry and accomplishment. The Moon conjuncts Chiron which may trigger wounds that need to be healed. Keep your focus on work and duty as you navigate the day responsibly and productively.

The main event on Saturday is the Sun’s conjunction with Jupiter, offering hope and optimism. The Aries Moon conjuncts fierce Eris and makes a benefic sextile to Mercury, conjuring revolutionary ideas, fueled by a strained Moon-Pluto square. Mars and Venus move into Aquarius tropically, squaring the Moon in the evening, and adding to the uneasiness. Both tension and promise are aroused.

The rumbling of the last few days continues on Sunday with the Taurus Moon’s conjunction with Uranus. Mercury squares the nodal axis, provoking us to weigh our options. The Moon is exalted in Taurus where it delights in pleasures of the senses. Indulge in delicious food, inspire yourself with good music, and make your environment more comfortable and beautiful. Focusing on making your life more comfortable and pleasurable is good medicine for the harsh, demanding energy of the week behind you.

The fixed earth Taurus Moon on Monday makes a benefic sextile to the Sun and Jupiter giving optimism and buoyancy. Yet, a Moon-Saturn square reminds us of limitations and responsibilities.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
