In the Stars July 17-24, 2022 . . . shining light on the astrology of the week

The Full Moon that occurred a few days ago held potent energy for change. The Capricorn Moon was conjunct Pluto, urging us to attend to responsibilities and complete projects over the next two weeks before the New Moon.

The Sun is now in its last few days in Cancer; on Friday it moves into fun-loving Leo. This is a stormy week, particularly on Wednesday and Thursday.

Jupiter is slowing to turn retrograde on July 28. Mars will conjunct Uranus and the North Node August 1-3, an extremely volatile configuration.

Sunday may be a tense day due to the Sun’s square to Eris. However, the Pisces Moon’s sextile to Uranus may help us shake off the pricklies. Venus moves into compassionate Cancer, and the Moon makes four benefic aspects with other planets, reminding us that we have a new day ahead. However, a Mercury-Pluto opposition may lead to feelings of vulnerability and defensiveness, but we can overcome these obstacles.

We bounce into the work week on Monday with the high energy of the Aries Moon. Mercury-opposite-Pluto draws us into deep conversations and problem-solving.

Chiron stations to go retrograde on Tuesday and is joined by the Moon. You may feel more sensitive than usual; consider how you can address insecurities and emotional wounds. The Sun is approaching an opposition with Pluto, fueling fury for change, and empowering you to take action. Mercury ingresses into Leo, igniting imaginative thinking.

Wednesday is fiery hot and intense due to the emboldened Aries Moon conjunct Eris, and both planets squaring Pluto, the Sun, and Ceres. The Taurus Moon provides grounding and sensibility. The day has elements of unpredictability. Use this bold energy to make strides, albeit carefully. Keep your cool and refrain from doing anything risky.

Thursday is a volatile day that may be full of disgruntlements. Eris stations retrograde. The Moon is conjunct Mars and Uranus, giving rebellious energy, as well as making us impatient and quick to anger. Something sudden or unusual may occur. The Sun and Ceres are conjunct, bringing a need to give and receive nurturing. This is a day that calls for patience and a extra dose of mindfulness.

The Sun moves into Leo on Friday, ushering us into the solar month designated for recreation and fun. The Taurus Moon gives grounded energy and its square to Saturn and trine to Pluto demands a productive work day. A Moon-Neptune trine eases us into a flow. Enjoy a playful evening with good food and delights to please your senses.

Saturday Jupiter expands the qualities of the Moon, Mercury, and Pallas Athena through benefic aspects. Enlightening conversations and creative strategies abound. Be curious!

The Venus-Jupiter square on Sunday makes us prone to overindulgence. We could easily spend too much, or overextend in some way. We may simply want to relax and take time for pleasure. Call your siblings. Take time out to read a book. Allow your curiosity to flow where it wants to go.

Monday begins with a meandering energy as the Moon is void of course until 10:54 a.m. PDT, Ease into the week, attending to routine, insignificant matters. Planetary activity is light. The Moon moves into home and family-oriented Cancer at 10:54 a.m. PDT, inviting comfort and nurturing.

5. Pull out your family recipes and make some of your favorite family foods. 6. Read a historical novel. 7. Get together with siblings or relatives and share family stories. 8. Gaze at the Moon in the night sky. 9. Honor your feelings. 10. Express care through a card, call, or gift of food.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
