In the Stars July 2-9, 2023 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

The Sun is now in Cancer, keeping our focus on home and family. We assemble with loved ones to celebrate independence day, Picnics and family gatherings call us, as does gardening and sprucing up our homes.

Neptune is now retrograde, along with Pluto and Saturn that are already in retrograde, drawing us into a more interior, reflective, intuitive focus.

A SuperMoon Full Moon forms on Monday, July 3. We are called to balance the need for nurturing with the need for meeting goals and ambitions.

We may want to sleep in on Sunday morning, July 2, and catch more dreams, as the Moon squares Neptune. However, a Mars-Eris trine gets the day moving. At 10:13 a.m. PDT the Moon moves into Capricorn, giving industry for weekend chores. The evening’s Moon-Saturn sextile gives sensibility and turns us toward responsibilities. Venus squares Uranus, igniting a feeling of independence.

A SuperMoon brightens Monday, July 3. The Full Moon perfects at 4:38 a.m. PDT at 11:18 degrees of Capricorn. This Full Moon confronts us with balancing our goals and ambitions with our needs for close family relationships and nurturing. A Moon-Mercury opposition may strain communication. An evening Moon-Uranus trine orients us toward freedom and may deliver something surprising.

Tuesday, July 4th, Independence Day, starts out on a powerful note with the Capricorn Moon conjunct Pluto and square Eris. This determined combination could get a lot of work done on this emotionally edgy morning. The Moon moves into Aquarius at 10:30 a.m. PDT., inviting us to enjoy diverse crowds and friends at holiday parades and festivities.

We may linger another day Wednesday, July 5th, in the holiday glow of gatherings and visiting with friends. A Mercury-Chiron square perfects, making us sensitive to our wounds and not feeling heard. A Moon-Uranus square in the evening breaks routine and may result in a change of plans.

The Moon is void of course Thursday morning, July 6, from 6:41 a.m.-10:32 a.m. PDT, during which we may have difficulty finding direction. The Moon ushers in a focus on art, beauty, and inspiration after it enters Pisces at 10:32 a.m. PDT. Mercury sextiles Uranus, opening our minds to new ideas that just might work. The Moon conjuncts Saturn in the evening, helping us wrap up the day’s responsibilities with patience and attention.

The Sun and Moon form a beautiful trine in water signs on Friday, July 7th. This should make for an easy, emotionally satisfying day. A Moon-Uranus sextile in the evening beckons us to try something new and different for dinner.

Saturday morning is soft and creative, as the Moon conjuncts Neptune in the last degrees of Pisces. This configuration invites us to putter in our gardens in an effort to beautify. At 12: 19 p.m. PDT the Moon moves into Aries, giving a different energy that is ready to charge forth on an adventure or get started on a project. There is some contention in the air, so channel the discord into action.

Sunday, July 9th, is an active day that calls for adventure. Several challenging aspects would be well served with physical activity. Nurture yourself with an engagement that will boost your confidence.

On Monday, July 10th, Mars moves into Virgo where it will stay through August 26th. Here the planet of action is concerned with precision and ethics, and loves exercise and healthy attention to the body. Mercury and Pluto are in opposition, generating tension, as well as keen awareness. The Moon moves into Taurus late afternoon at 4:56 p.m. PDT, calming emotions. A Moon-Mars trine gives courage to face issues.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
