In the Stars July 23-30, 2023 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week
T
The Sun is in Leo, symbolized the lion, as of 6:51 p.m. PDT on Saturday, July 22. The Sun is the ruler of Leo, so it is exceptionally strong there. Leo symbolizes courage, creativity, generosity, and playfulness. The Sun is in Leo during the last weeks of summer vacation. Leo loves children, so this time encourages play with children and grandchildren. The Sun in Leo zodiacal month is the time for summer parties and fun gatherings, as well as for doing creative projects.
Venus and Chiron move retrograde on July 22 and 23 respectively, joining Saturn, Pluto, and Neptune. We are drawn into a more interior, reflective, intuitive focus while at the same time we enjoy the lively, extroverted energy of the Leo Sun.
Venus is in Leo for a long period (from June 5-Octoer 8, 2023). Venus stationed retrograde Saturday, July 22, turning retrograde until September 3. This is somewhat unusual, as Venus turns retrograde only once in every 32 months. Thus, there's a lot of roaring and exuberance right now with the Sun and Venus retrograde in Leo. Consider how you can open your heart and be more generous. How can you be playful and creative? Where do you want to amplify your enthusiasm and courage? How can you bring more pride and color into your life?

Chiron, the archetype of the wounded healer, stations retrograde on Sunday, July 23, at 19:57 degrees of Aries. The Chiron station invites us to honor the warrior and the wounding within us. Mercury squares Uranus, a brilliant, edgy combination that invites us to think differently and break old thought patterns. Evening conversations will be harmonious and supportive, as the Libra Moon conjuncts nurturing Ceres.
Monday’s Libra Moon draws us to harmonious social encounters, and invites us to surround ourselves with grace and beauty. The day is framed by somewhat challenging aspects: a Moon-Chiron opposition in the wee hours of the morning, and a Moon-Eris opposition after midnight on Tuesday, July 25, PDT.
Pluto exactly squares the nodal axis on Tuesday, July 25, working over old relationship patterns. The energy is increased by the Libra Moon’s square to Pluto. Mercury trines Eris, encouraging us to express our feelings, even if they may be discordant. The Moon moves into Scorpio at 9:55 a.m. PDT, taking us deep into emotional territory and a greater need for solitude and pondering. The Moon trines Saturn in the evening, anchoring us with strength and resolve.
Wednesday, July 26 carries a lot of steam for accomplishment, thanks to a Mars-Jupiter opposition, along with the Moon’s benefic alignments to these two planets. Due to the Moon’s dive into Scorpio, we may be particularly focused on deep problem solving and research. These aspects could be good for making travel arrangements or working on financial issues.
Thursday morning July 27th may not go as planned due to a Moon-Uranus opposition. Let your intuition guide you, as you may be taken in a different direction. There is a short void-of-course Moon period from 3:35 p.m.-5:23 p.m. PDT, during which time it would be best to tend to routine, insignificant matters rather than trying to make connections or decisions. At 5:53 p.m. PDT the Moon moves into Sagittarius, encouraging a social evening full of excitement and deep conversations.
Friday, July 27, holds mixed energies. On one hand, the exuberant, optimistic Sagittarius Moon trines the Leo Sun, igniting a glowing, energetic backdrop. On the other hand, several challenging aspects (Moon-square-Saturn, Pluto-square-the Nodal axis, Sun-quincunx-Saturn) ask us to address our responsibilities and confront issues. Mercury’s ingress into Virgo gives solid, practical thought for how to address the day’s glories and vicissitudes.
We have a bounce in our step and a zest for adventure on Saturday, July 28. We may drift with creative ideas in the afternoon due to a Moon-Neptune square.
The Capricorn Moon frames Sunday and Monday, July 30 and 31, for strong work. A grand earth trine between the Moon in Capricorn, Mars in Virgo and Jupiter in Taurus on Sunday blesses the day with practical energy and zest. Make the most of this alignment to get a lot accomplished and move your goals forward.
On Monday, July 31, the Moon aligns with Uranus, stirring the pot with discoveries and diversions. Other aspects may create some issues to be handled, yet, the first day of the work week is a productive day.
The week in short;
Sunday: Honor the warrior and the wounding within you. Break old thought patterns. Express harmony and congeniality.
Monday: Surround yourself by beauty, and engage in socially copacetic encounters.
Tuesday: Intense day focused on changing relationship patterns. Deep emotions surface, yet we are grounded in strength and wisdom as the day wears on.
Wednesday: High energy for deep problem solving, especially with money matters.
Thursday: The day may go other than planned, so flow with it. Enjoy a social evening.
Friday: Highs and lows are addressed by optimism and practical thinking.
Saturday: Set out for adventure and be open to inspiring offerings.
Sunday: Powerful work day blessed with practical energy.
Monday: Discoveries and diversions may color this productive work day.
Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
