In the Stars July 7-14, 2024 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

Saturn and Neptune are now retrograde for the next five months until November 15 and December 7 respectively. The retrograde energy is stronger, though more interior. Use it to consider how you will manifest your visions. This is an incubation time to imagine how you will work with the conjunction at 0 degrees of Aries of these two planets next spring 2025.

The Sun continues to shine in Cancer tropically, symbolizing themes of home, family, tradition, and compassion and caring. This is a time for family picnics, visits, and gatherings. It is a time for domestic activities: gardening, cooking, and caring for home and property.  Revisit family photo albums.

The Mars-Saturn sextile offers stability and energy for completing the weekend’s household chores on Saturday, July 6. The Moon’s sextile to Uranus may take us off course in the afternoon and invite a different scenario than expected.

Since you took care of the weekend chores yesterday, Sunday is a day for play and fun in the light of the Leo Moon. The day is buoyed by the Moon’s conjunction with Mercury and sextile to Jupiter. On the other hand, a Venus-Eris square may create problems with relationships. Use the creative juice of the Leo Moon to solve problems and generate joy.

A Venus-Uranus sextile on Monday July 8, invites new possibilities in relationships. A Mercury-Jupiter sextile opens our mind and enables us to envision creative possibilities.  The Moon’s squares to Mars and Uranus inspire action and breakthrough.

The Moon shines in Virgo for the next three days (Tuesday-Thursday July 9-11), highlighting the opportunity to clean up and create order.  On Tuesday Jupiter makes a benefic sextile with the North Node, generating optimism and confidence.

Saturn is a strong player on Wednesday, July 10. The taskmaster planet trines the Sun and opposes the Moon, directing serious attention to work and responsibilities. The Virgo Moon further emphasizes those themes, and appreciates them. Make it a productive day!

An early morning Moon-Mars trine in earth signs on Thursday, July 11, helps us plan the day and set goals. At the same time, Venus trines Neptune in water signs and may not want to be tied to structure and expectations. Soon after Venus trines Neptune she moves into Leo where she is expressive in love. The Virgo Moon trines Uranus and invites us to take a calculated risk. The Moon ingresses into Libra at 7:06 p.m. PDT, shifting our interest and concern on relationship matters.

Friday, July 12, may hold dramatic changes in matters of love or money as Venus opposes Pluto, the god of the underworld. Trust issues, manipulative matters, power struggles and secrets may be themes of stories to be revealed. The harmonious Libra Moon may mediate matters, especially as it makes a benefic trine to Jupiter.

A benefic aspect between the Moon and Mercury early Saturday morning, July 13, opens communication channels which may help with the lingering Venus-Pluto opposition of yesterday. Yet other difficult relational aspects are in the field (Sun square Moon; Moon opposite Chiron and Eris). Do your best to steer toward the conciliatory gifts of the Libra Moon.

The Moon moves into the deep, dark emotional waters of Scorpio on Sunday, and makes a testy squares with both Pluto and Venus. It may not be easy to share what is on your mind. The Scorpio Moon usually wants time alone, and this may be the best thing to do, given the vulnerability of the day’s aspects.

Mars and Uranus conjunct in Taurus. This is a clashing conjunction that can be reckless, as well as creative. Being in the sign of Taurus, impulsiveness is slowed and more measured. Use it for innovation and building. There are additional difficult aspects in the day: Sun-square-Chiron; and Moon-square-Mercury.  The Moon’s trine to Saturn will help us stay measured and reasonable.

Moon Void of Course:

This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.Void-of-Course Moon times for the month ahead (one lunar cycle):Pacific Standard Time:
