In the Stars June 13-20, 2021...shining light on the astrology of the week

We have moved on from June’s eclipses, though there may continue to be effects. Here are some examples of how the eclipse showed its power in the lives of people I know. A friend reported a breakthrough in two difficult relationships through a meditation on the day of the eclipse. I noted for her that this is an example of a positive power surge of an eclipse. The eclipse fell on my sister's Sun and Moon; she received a promising job possibility out of the blue on the day of the eclipse. On the other hand, my nephew broke his arm playing baseball, sliding into the base (the hit drove in the game-winning run!), the eclipse being exactly on his Moon and Descendant.

Uranus will square Saturn for the second time this year on June 14th. This aspect creates change through breakthroughs and restructuring, and with Uranus involved, surprises may be in store. This strong change configuration is with us all year, and is strongest near its exactness. The third exact square aspect is December 24th. Each week the Moon aligns with this aspect by conjunction, square, or opposition, igniting this change energy. This week the Moon-Uranus-Saturn aspects occur on Monday, June 14th and Monday, June 21st.

Mercury is retrograde for another week until June 22nd. Saturn is retrograde as well, and Jupiter joins the retrograde brigade on Sunday, June 20th. In the next week take time to rethink, review, and renew. Put projects on pause, hold off on new initiatives, and re-work and reorganize your plans and commitments. It is a good time to clean up your email backlog, to file papers, and get things in order to support yourself when Mercury turns direct.

Sunday, June 20th is the Summer Solstice, the day that the Sun ingresses into Cancer, and marking the beginning of summer. Also on the 20th, Jupiter turns retrograde for the next four months until October 17th, marking a time to examine our belief systems.

Sunday morning is laden with the heaviness of the Moon-Pluto opposition. Get some strong exercise to lift your mood. The Moon is void of course until 11:22 a.m. PDT when it moves into playful Leo. As the Sun moves higher in the sky, so does our sense of joy. The Sun-Neptune square may ignite your imagination. This is a good afternoon for play, and a good evening to watch a movie.

Monday is a tense, potent day. The second exact Saturn-Uranus square perfects at 13:06 degrees of Aquarius and Taurus, and the Leo Moon forms a T-square, opposing Saturn and squaring Uranus. Not only is this a T-square, but a fixed T-square. This is the second of the three Saturn-Uranus square aspects this year that push for big change in our lives, though in fixed signs (Taurus-Leo-Scorpio-Aquarius) that are the most resistant to change of the modalities. Watch for major events in the collective as a result of this transit. Be willing to make changes that this energy is pushing you to address.

Tuesday is a lighter, easier day, a welcome relief after Monday’s intensity. The Moon is void of course from 10:27 a.m. until 8:01 p.m., a time that invites attention to routine, inconsequential matters rather than those of import. The Moon enters Virgo at 8:01 p.m. PDT, and our attention turns to planning how to get a lot accomplished efficiently in the next two days.

On Wednesday and Thursday we are invited to get our lives in order with the Moon in Virgo. Clean house and take care of details. Work on checking off your “to do” list. Make the most of the efficient, industrious energy of the Moon in Virgo.

Friday is Venus’ Day (Viernes), and the Moon moves into Libra, the sign ruled by Venus. The day is infused with Venus’ callings toward beauty and pleasure. Move through the day gracefully and easily. Venus likes people and close relationships. Venus also loves a glowing ambiance, good food, and good conversation. This good planetary energy will grace the farewell happy hour at my neighbors’ beautiful home this evening. Take advantage of it yourself, and create a sparkling dinner party or have a date night with your beloved at a special restaurant.

Saturday morning is nice and easy, supported by a Moon-Mercury trine. As the day wears on it gets testy. The evening is crowned with a Moon-Pluto square which may provoke disagreements. Channel intense emotional energy into a vigorous walk or cooking an amazing dinner.

The Moon enters the deep, murky waters of Scorpio on Sunday, stirring emotional issues. Jupiter stations to go retrograde for four months until October 17th when it turns direct again. The Sun moves into Cancer at 8:32 p.m., marking the Summer Solstice. This is day of maximum light, the longest day of the year. This is a day of shifts.

Monday is a mixed day. On one hand there is a great deal of tension and pressure as a result of the Scorpio Moon’s alignment with Uranus and Saturn. Put this energy to work on a demanding project that has been stuck or stagnant. At the same time the Scorpio Moon forms a soothing and supportive Grand Trine in water signs between Neptune (Pisces) and Venus (Cancer).

The Week in Short:

Sunday: Heavy morning; exercise strong. Play in the afternoon and evening.

Monday: Saturn-Uranus square pushes for big change.

Tuesday: Take a breath. Relax. Play. Moon VoC 10:27 a.m. – 8:01 p.m. during which attend to insignificant, routine matters.

Thursday: Clean house and get your life in order, but you may be distracted by visions of a higher order. Pause and take an inspiring walk.

Friday: Make it a special day graced with beauty and good company.

Saturday: Easy morning, but the day gets testy as it wears on.

Sunday: Sun moves into Cancer: Summer Solstice. Jupiter turns retrograde until October 17th. Day of shifts.

Monday: Mixed day of tension and emotional support. Apply hard work to stuck projects.

Ten Things to Do with Venus in Cancer (June 2-26)

Pull out your family recipes, and make some of your favorite family foods. 6. Read a historical novel. 7. Get together with siblings and share family stories. 8. Gaze at the Moon in the night sky. 9. Honor your feelings. 10. Express care through a card, call, or gift of food.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
