In the Stars March 17-24, 2024 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

The Sun is moving through the last few degrees of Pisces, and moving into Aries on March 19. All planets are now direct until April 1st, so the wind continues to be at your back in that respect.

We are close to the first eclipse season of the year, with the penumbral Lunar Eclipse at midnight PDT March 25th at 5:07 Libra. This will be followed by Total Solar Eclipse on April 8th at 19:23 degrees of Aries. The eclipse portal is intense. Eclipses can bring sudden changes and opportunities to accelerate your journey.

The Jupiter-Uranus conjunction is tightening. This week these planets are 5-6 degrees apart, moving toward an exact conjunction April 17-21. This aspect, occurring once every 13 years, is powerfully innovative and expansive. Now would be a great time to start an innovative project. Be expansive in your imagination about what is possible, as this spring holds great energy for invention and discovery.

St, Patrick’s Day Sunday, March 17 is set for home and family affairs. Fluff up your home, cozy up with loved ones, and enjoy some home-cooked food.

On Monday, March 18, the Cancer Moon trines Saturn, orienting the day toward duty and responsibility, particularly regarding home and family. The Moon makes benefic sextiles to Jupiter and Uranus, generating optimism and helping us tune in to our intuition, Mercury’s conjunction with the North Node reminds us of the importance of direct communication. Overall, this is a sweet, lovely day.

Tuesday morning, March 19th, holds both sweet and irritable energy. A Moon-Eris square presents discord, while the Moon’s trine to Neptune and the Sun gives vision, inspiration, and compassion. At 12:33 p.m. PDT the Moon moves into exuberant Leo and then opposes Pluto, generating strong feelings and potential for drama. Later the Sun moves into Aries tropically, marking the Spring Equinox and a new zodiacal year.

Wednesday, March 20 carries potential for healing, as the day’s prominent planetary alignment is a Mercury-Chiron conjunction. This alignment may trigger insecurities; there is a need to feel understood. The enthusiastic Leo Moon squares Jupiter, boosting pride and perhaps a bit of drama.

Venus and Saturn make their annual conjunction on Thursday, March 21, generating assessments of love and money, and perhaps formulating decisions of importance. A Moon-Uranus square may shake up our lives and bring new truths to face. The Sun and Pluto form a sextile, giving an opportunity for powerful change.

The Moon moves into Virgo just after midnight Friday morning, March 22, ushering in a time for clean-up and organization for the next 2 ½ days. It is time to tie up loose ends and put your life in greater order. Mars enters Pisces for the next six weeks, focusing our energy on spiritual and creative pursuits.

Saturday, March 23, is another industrious day with the Moon in Virgo, fueling practical energy for getting tasks accomplished. The Moon opposes Saturn and Venus, drawing us to our responsibilities, as well as our pleasures. Then the Moon trines Jupiter and Uranus, expanding possibilities and bringing diversions. The day closes on an expansive, creative note.

Sunday, March 24, starts slow and dreamy with the Moon conjunct Neptune, followed by the Moon being void of course from 8:48 a.m. to 1:37 p.m. PDT. Enjoy a leisurely Sunday morning reading, gardening, or tending to your home. After the Moon enters Libra at 1:38 p.m. PDT, you will want to reach out to friends and loved ones and engage socially. The Moon trines Pluto in the afternoon, building a desire for connection. A Venus-Jupiter sextile helps to make this Sunday an optimistic, delightful day leading up to the Lunar Eclipse at Midnight. Keep things simple given the intensity of an eclipse.

As noted above, at midnight Monday, March 25 the Full Moon perfects, forming a penumbral Lunar Eclipse at 5:07 degrees of Libra. Relationship themes are activated; we consider the balance of self and other. The Aries Sun makes a semi-square to Uranus, perhaps provoking some impulsive actions. Go carefully and easily, as there is a lot of intense energy in an eclipse.

Moon Void of Course:

This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
