In the Stars November 19-26, 2023 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

Garner some solitude these last days with the Sun in Scorpio through Tuesday, November 21. The Sun moves into Sagittarius on Wednesday, November 22, ushering in the holiday party spirit. Polish your dancing shoes, and get ready to RSVP "yes" that you will be there at the holiday gatherings.

Mars and the Sun are conjunct for the week ahead, squaring Saturn— a tense, volatile combination. Mars symbolizes anger, heat, and aggression. The next week will likely be demanding and turbulent. Tackle a big project. Direct your energy into work and accomplishment, and more exercise.

The week ahead is one to work on the intentions you set at the New Moon November 13. The Full Moon is Monday, November 27. It is a tense Full Moon with many implications and invitations, urging us after the Thanksgiving holiday weekend to tend to responsibilities and get moving.

Saturday and Sunday, November 18-19, are days colored by a cool, detached Aquarius Moon that enables us to disengage from tension. It calls us to gather, meeting up with old and new friends. Saturday’s Moon-Jupiter square generates enthusiasm and makes us prone to excess and feeling overextended. Sunday’s Moon-Uranus square fosters independence, and may take us off course. We may be led to discover something new. In the wee hours of Monday the Aquarius Moon squares the Sun, Mars, and Ceres, perhaps disturbing sleep.

Monday morning the Moon enters Pisces at 6:29 a.m. PST and aligns with Saturn, calling for a serious, disciplined start to the day. The Sun and Ceres conjunct, and sextile Pluto, reinforcing strong, familial bonds in relationships. Healing conversations are supported by Mercury’s trine to Chiron. A benefic Moon-Jupiter sextile in the evening gives hope and lifts our spirits.

Tuesday’s main event is a Mars-Pluto sextile. You will want to eliminate what is no longer working in your life and streamline. This is also an incredibly productive aspect. Mars squares Mercury, making communication edgy. Watch a tendency to be too sharp and cutting with comments. Late at night the Moon conjuncts Neptune, ushering us into an illustrious dreamland.

You may get a delayed start on Wednesday, November 22, as the Moon is void of course in Pisces until 9:19 a.m. PST. Then the Moon bounces into Aries and the action begins. The Sun ingresses into Sagittarius, bringing in the expansive, social, holiday party month of the year. Sagittarius loves a good time with a diverse group of people who are joyful and optimistic. If you haven’t already planned your holiday party(ies), this would be a good day to do so. The Moon trines the Sun in fire signs, making this a day for bold steps forward.

Thanksgiving Day Thursday, November 23, is a day of restraint and challenges due to the Sun’s square to Saturn. We may feel torn between taking care of our own needs versus those of others (Aries Moon conjunct Chiron, and Moon opposite Venus). Discussion around the dinner table is lively and easy due to by a Moon-Mercury trine. Fueled by the fiery Aries Moon, this is a day to address responsibilities with initiative and gusto, such as setting the table for Thanksgiving guests and cooking dinner.

Enjoy a leisurely day-after-Thanksgiving holiday Friday morning. The planetary alignments in the morning are testy (Moon square Pluto and Moon conjunct Eris), so best to use this energy for a vigorous hike. Mars ingresses into Sagittarius, urging us to hit the ground running, physically as well as with goals and ideas. Wait to start your Black Friday shopping until after 12:28 p.m. PST, as the Moon is void of course all morning until then. Then the Moon moves into its exalted sign, Taurus, which has the Midas touch for shopping, so it is a great afternoon for good finds.

Early morning Saturday, November 25, is buoyed by a Jupiter-Moon conjunction. The overarching energy of the day is pleasure, colored by the strong Taurus Moon. It is a day to feast on beauty and music, art, food, and wine, However, in contrast, the day is imbued with numerous challenging minor aspects, too. In the evening the Moon conjuncts Uranus, perhaps delivering a surprise or change of course.

Sunday morning, November 26, invites more sensual pleasures, such as a divine breakfast in bed, or attending a church service with magnificent music. The Moon is VoC 1:51 p.m. -4:39 p.m. PST, which would be a good time to pause, read a book, putter in your garden, or cook up something delightful in your kitchen. At 4:39 p.m. PST the Moon moves into Gemini and soon after squares Saturn, and opposes Mars. The aspect is tense, creating an opportunity to communicate about issues that need to be resolved.

Monday, November 27, sports a Full Moon in Gemini. The Sun conjuncts Mars, and the Full Moon/Mars squares Saturn. This is a tense T-square aspect with Saturn, the commander, at the apex. To me, this is a call to action and attention, to get your life in good order and get moving. This is the beginning of the week after the holidays, and four weeks before Christmas. Set your goals and intentions for the season, and get to work on them.

  7. Dress well and be beautiful.

  8. Make your home a sparkling, peaceful, inspiring place to be.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
