In the Stars November 7-14, 2021...shining light on the astrology of the week

The Sun continues to shine in the fixed water sign Scorpio, symbolizing emotional depths, secrets, finances linked with others, death, and transformation. Scorpio corresponds to the fixed season of autumn when days are growing shorter and trees are losing their leaves. With growing darkness and colder weather we feel like drawing inward. This is a month to withdraw and rest before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season arrives when the Sun is in enthusiastic, outgoing Sagittarius.

The coming work week begins strong with the Moon in industrious Capricorn. Midweek is contentious as Saturn squares Mars and Mercury, and the Moon ignites the Saturn-Uranus square. Tensions ease toward the weekend as the Moon enters compassionate Pisces.

Venus has just entered Capricorn tropically, where it will stay for the next four months until March 6, 2022. This is due to a retrograde period December 20 - January 28. Venus in this Saturn-ruled earth sign invites us to get our finances in order, spend conservatively, and save more (see Ten Things to Do With Venus in Capricorn at the end of this blog).

We are on the cusp of eclipse season. A partial Lunar Eclipse occurs on November 19, and a total Solar Eclipse on December 3. Eclipses can trigger powerful events, either positive or difficult. Ongoing we have the tense energy of the Eris-Pluto square, and the Saturn-Uranus square which will reach its third exact aspect December 24th. We live in a time of rapid change and amazing possibilities. The movement of the planets invites us into a dynamic engagement with opportunity and change.

The Moon is Void of Course most of the day Sunday from 5:43 a.m. through 5:03 p.m. PDT, inviting us to take the day off and go on a hike or outdoor adventure. The Moon moves into Capricorn at 5:03 p.m. PDT. A Moon-Venus conjunction and a benefic Moon-Mercury sextile foster easy conversation and connection.

The hard-working, driven Capricorn Moon invites us into an industrious work week on Monday. The Moon makes a benefic trine to Uranus, taking us in new directions or bringing an element of surprise.

The Moon is void of course for a long period of time Tuesday, which could be an unsettling day. The Moon squares Eris and conjuncts Pluto. The best thing to do with this turbulent energy is start the day with strong exercise and hard work. Meetings are unlikely to be productive and deliver results, so schedule those for Wednesday or Friday. When the Moon is void, it is best to focus on insignificant tasks. You can shake off concerns in the evening when the Moon moves into Aquarius at 7:02 p.m. PDT.

Wednesday is a feisty, rebellious day. The Moon conjuncts Saturn, and these planets make edgy square aspects to Mars and Mercury. This configuration can trigger anger and frustration out of feeling restraint or limitation. The Moon then moves on to square Uranus. The Saturn-Uranus square is ignited, perhaps pushing change as a result of coming to terms with something that isn’t working, or realizing a breakthrough with something you have been working on.

The Moon conjuncts Jupiter on Thursday, making us more idealistic and expansive. Some tension remains from yesterday with the Saturn-Mercury-Mars energy still at play, and the Moon squaring the Sun at the First Quarter Moon. Determination, focus, and optimism are the guiding principles of the day.

Friday is a compassionate day when we are called to our higher selves and service. With the Moon in Pisces we can be inspired, as well as forgiving. The Moon makes benefic aspects to Mercury and Uranus, bringing out the best of Pisces’ qualities of inspiration and artistry. Friday is Venus’ day—one to give and receive more love and beauty.

Insightful ideas abound on Saturday, thanks to a Mercury-Uranus opposition. The Moon is conjunct Neptune, and both are trine the Sun, making for another inspiring, compassionate day. These aspects together can make for a scattering of thoughts. Keep pen and paper nearby to jot down the imaginative missives that float through your mind.

We are off to a roaring, energetic start on Sunday with the Moon in Aries. Feel the fire and make it a warm, enthusiastic day of happenings. A Venus-Chiron square late in the day may dampen the exuberance and make us feel unappreciated. Give yourself a little extra care.

Get your week off to a quick, energetic start. A Sun-Jupiter square may lead to overextension, but the combination of optimism and enthusiasm can result in a lot being accomplished quickly.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
