In the Stars October 27-November 3, 2024 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week: New Moon

The Sun continues to shine in the fixed water sign Scorpio tropically. The solar energy for the three weeks ahead invite us to go inward, taking some time for ourselves as we settle into deeper autumn. Scorpio likes exploring hidden mysteries.
This is good astro-weather for a divination series I’ll be teaching November 9, 16, and 23 at The Alembic in Berkeley, CA (the series will also be live-streamed). Sign up for the in-person or online events: http://bit.ly/48mmVgI. .
Ongoing world conflicts are likely to intensify as in the war in the Middle East now involving Iran. Mars squares the Sun all week, moving increasingly toward an explosive opposition to Pluto that will perfect November 3, two days before the election.
The New Moon dawns on Friday, November 1, at 5:47 a.m. PDT. This New Moon in Scorpio is closely trine to Saturn in Pisces, offering emotional stability and reason. Set intentions for the month ahead about what you want to release or transform.
Jupiter, Saturn, Chiron, Uranus, and Neptune are retrograde. The many retrograde planets draw us inward for self-reflection. Focus on completing projects already in process.

Saturday, October 26, should be dedicated to a cause about which you are passionate, with Pluto making a trine to Vesta, the asteroid that symbolizes dedication and commitment. The Moon enters Virgo at 8:47 a.m., inviting us to get our life in good order. It is time to clean house and get organized, so make good use of this day’s offerings.
Sunday, October 27, the perfectionistic Virgo Moon lights up the Venus-Saturn square, drawing out tensions in relationships that need to be addressed. Be mindful not to be too critical or nitpicky. This meticulous energy pattern can also be used to clean up and organize areas of your life that need attention.
Numerous planetary aspects, both flowing and tense make for an active Monday, October 28, when much can be checked off the Virgo Moon’s to-do list. The flowing aspects include a Mars-Neptune trine, a Moon-Mars sextile, and a Grand Earth Trine between the Virgo Moon, Uranus in Taurus, and Pluto in Capricorn. Challenging aspects include the perfected Venus-Saturn square, a Moon-Jupiter square, and a minor aspect between the Sun and Jupiter. Altogether, there are opportunities for doing things differently and getting a lot accomplished.
The Moon is in harmony-seeking Libra on Tuesday, October 29, but the day holds some frustrating, volatile energies. Hold honest, considerate conversations, and try to stay balanced as we navigate this testy day.
A Mercury-Uranus opposition is a key aspect of Wednesday, October 30. This aspect invites brilliant thinking in a different way. The Moon trines Jupiter, drawing us toward optimism and positive thinking. A Moon-Eris opposition in the evening may surface problems, but we have the cosmic energies aiding us to address them.
Thursday, October 31, Halloween, unfolds with fireworks. The day starts with the Moon squaring volatile Mars and Pluto that are in opposition. At 10:29 a.m. PDT the Moon moves into moody, intense, fixed Scorpio. Thankfully, a Mercury-Neptune tine gives compassion and ease. Synchronistically, Halloween night this year is a dark moon.
The New Moon dawns on Friday, November 1, at 5:47 a.m. PDT. This New Moon in Scorpio is closely trine to Saturn in Pisces, offering emotional stability and reason. Set intentions for the month ahead about what you want to release or transform.
On Saturday, November 2, Mercury makes benefic aspects to the volatile Mars-Pluto opposition, Mercury encourages thoughtful, honest conversations as we move through the turbulence generated by the election and the Mars-Pluto opposition. Mercury moves into Sagittarius mid-day; this placement may bring some good humor, but dogmatic beliefs also may emerge. There may be some surprising events in the afternoon as Uranus opposes the Moon. Yet, the Moon-Mercury conjunction forms a Grand Water trine with Neptune and Mars, offering some emotional balance to the volatile Mars-Pluto opposition. There is a lot to talk about.
The pot boils over on Sunday, November 3, as Mars and Pluto perfect in exact opposition. This volatile alignment has been in effect for several weeks and will continue through the end of the year. Venus and Jupiter oppose each other in talkative signs Sagittarius and Gemini respectively. The election noise may get louder. Mars moves into dramatic Leo, and the Moon’s square to Saturn may generate more worry. The astrological energies amplify our worries about the future of the United States government.
A battle of opinions charges forth Monday, November 4, as a result of a Moon-Jupiter opposition and other alignments. A Moon-Eris trine offers resilience and strength to stand for what you believe. The drum rolls. Tomorrow is the U.S. election!

Moon Void of Course:
This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
