In the Stars April 12-19, 2026 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

A New Moon in Aries occurs Friday, April 17, along with five other planets in Aries: Neptune, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, and Chiron. The Sun and Mars burn strong and hot in Aries. Aries initiates and leads, and is courageous, so plan to set some of your goals and dreams in motion at this New Moon.
There is a Kala Sarpa yoga this week and through April 26, when all of the planets (except outer planet Pluto) are hemmed in by the nodal axis. We will feel especially restrained by world events. We may feel frustrated and restricted personally as well.
Sunday, April 19, is Akshaya Tritiya, a day when the Vedic sidereal placement of the Sun and Moon are both exalted. The Sun is in Aries, and from a sidereal perspective the Moon is in Taurus, both of the luminaries’ signs of exaltation. Usually this is a glorious day, but this day will be restricted by the conjunction of Mercury, Mars, and Saturn, as well as the Kala Sarpa yoga. However, make the most of this auspicious day even with the notable restrictions.
Venus is in Taurus through April 23, one of the two signs it rules. In Taurus, the planet symbolizing love and money is in its happy place. Tend to financial matters; consider how you can increase your resources. Venus in Taurus invites us to let our love light shine. Indulge yourself in pleasure.

This Week:
Saturday and Sunday, April 11-12, the Moon is in Aquarius. With the Moon in the fixed air sign symbolizing community, we broaden our reach, gather with friends, and extend ourselves to humanitarian causes. On Sunday Mars conjuncts Neptune, encouraging attention to intuition, and bringing a soft focus to goals and actions. Compassionate service is highlighted. Reach out to help a friend or family member.
Monday and Tuesday, April 13-14, the Moon is in Pisces. Art, music, creativity, and inspiration are highlighted. Mercury sextiles Uranus, and Venus sextiles Jupiter. Sextiles are aspects of opportunity. The day fosters brilliant ideas and good fortune. Act on your ideas. Good luck is on your side.
Wednesday and Thursday, April 15-16, the Moon is in Aries. These are days that invite vigorous exercise, movement, boldness, and leadership. The Moon is dark on Thursday, April 16, so you may want to take some quiet time and space for yourself.
Friday and Saturday, April 17-18: The Moon is in Aries Friday morning, forming a New Moon at 4:51 a.m. PDT at 27:28 degrees of Aries. Friday’s planetary alignments signal a day to set things in motion and initiate projects, but go carefully and thoughtfully. Aries can be impulsive, and with seven planets in the cardinal fire sign, we can be too quick to act and ride roughshod over necessary details and over others. This New Moon does invite us to take action and get things moving.
Sunday and Monday, April 19-20, the Moon is in Gemini. These are days for curiosity, connection, and community. Listen to a new podcast. Visit your library and find new books to read. Reach out and call a sibling. Plan a short trip or visit. Monday, April 20, the Moon is void of course all day, so don’t plan meetings or things requiring decisions for this day. This first weekday is best spent handling routine tasks such as filing, cleaning, reading, or gardening.

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
