The Sun ingressed into Scorpio on Friday, October 23. This new month invites us to go inward, to feel deeply, and take some solitude for ourselves. This time is important for restoration, as the following month, with the Sun in Sagittarius, will be full of social invitations! The month ahead with the Sun in Scorpio is a time for soul searching and introspection, and coupled with Mercury retrograde, it is a time for research and reconsidering.

Mercury turns retrograde Saturday, October 24, at 20 degrees of Scorpio, and will be spinning backwards in the zodiac until November 13 when it stations at 5 degrees Scorpio. Mercury’s shadow period began October 4 and will continue until November 30 when Mercury returns to 20 degrees Scorpio. At the beginning of the shadow period seeds were planted regarding current issues and opportunities. During the three-week retrograde period, you are invited to re-imagine, restart, re-connect, revise, re-do, and renovate. This can be a fruitful time, but it is best not to make new contracts and commitments during the retrograde period. It is a time for re-thinking and revising your life and current plans. It is a good time to clean up your desk and email, and take care of old business.

A Full Moon forms Sunday evening/early Monday morning depending on where you are. The fullness peaks at 9:11 p.m. Pacific Time Sunday evening October 25. Chiron is nearly conjunct the Moon, and Venus is nearly conjunct the Sun. Healing relationships is a key opportunity with this Full Moon; healing one’s personal wounds in light of relationship concerns is possible.

Venus remains in retrograde motion through November 13, inviting us to re-examine our values, desires, and relationships. There may be some deep soul-searching over the next month with both planets in deep relational territory (Venus in Scorpio and Libra, and Mercury in Scorpio).

There is one long void-of-course Moon period in the coming week, as follows, in Pacific Time:

·       October 27: 7:51 am-6:01 pm (Moon into Gemini)

When the Moon is void it is not making a major aspect with other planets, and thus, not much is happening. We have a hard time making up our minds about matters, and meetings and connections often do not come together. These times are best for tending to routine tasks and doing things like gardening, reading, or processing email.

This Week:

Saturday through Sunday afternoon (4:34 pm PDT), October 23-25, the Moon is in Aries. The Moon in Aries is a call for adventure and activity, and fresh starts. The Sun conjuncts retrograde Venus, a passionate aspect that could make for a deeply romantic weekend. Saturday Mercury turns retrograde for the next three weeks, inviting reconsideration of issues and desires in our lives. We may get some new ideas and begin to see some issues differently.

Sunday evening through Tuesday, October 25-27, the Moon is in Taurus. These days are set for attending to practical matters. Tend to your finances, and beautify your surroundings. Play inspiring music, and indulge in delicious food. Walk in the beauty of nature. The Moon reaches its fullness Sunday evening at 9:11 p.m. PDT at 2:45 degrees of Taurus. Be sure to soak in the beauty and the strong energy of this Full Moon.

Monday the Moon squares Mars, and the Sun squares Pluto, aspects that generate a lot of pressure. If you meet the demands of these planetary combinations head on with resolve, a lot can be accomplished, though trouble can easily brew. Set intentions to meet a demanding work day with resolve and hard work. Tuesday hosts a long void-or-course Moon from 7:51 a.m. until 6:01 p.m. The Moon opposes Mercury and squares Jupiter. You may feel a lack of support. Focus your energy on insignificant tasks, as little will come together. Meetings during a void Moon may be a waste of time, and decisions will likely be compromised. The day is best spent walking in nature, reading a satisfying book, raking leaves, or attending to insignificant, routine tasks. Also Tuesday the Scorpio Sun is inconjunct Uranus in Gemini, making for distractions and interruptions. Tuesday is a day to let go of plans and go with the flow.

Wednesday and Thursday, October 28 and 29, the Moon is in Gemini. Wednesday Retrograde Venus opposes Chiron. You may have to face that you cannot have what you want. However, if you are open to other options, something better may come along. On Thursday the Moon opposes retrograde Mercury. Misunderstandings may result, but if you ask questions and stay with the issues, you may find a better solution.

Friday and Saturday, October 30 and 31, the Moon is in Cancer. These days invite us to cozy up with family and nourish ourselves with comfort food. Friday Mercury retrograde squares Mars in Leo. You will want to stand up for your beliefs, but think twice before you speak as your words may easily be aggressive. Saturday is Halloween; share the holiday with those you love.

Sunday and Monday, November 1-2, the Moon is in Leo, inviting a playful weekend. These are also days for honoring the dead, including our ancestors. You may want to create an altar with photos of deceased loved ones. Leo is exuberant and expressive, so encourage your inner child to be joyful, maybe even a bit mischievous. Saturday the Moon makes its last quarter square with the Sun. The Moon trines Saturn, and the Sun makes an inconjunct aspect (150 degrees) with Saturn. There will be a strong pull to take care of responsibilities and to honor limitations.

Planetary Pointers for the week ahead:

·       Give space for reconsidering, re-checking, and revising plans and projects.

·       Give grace for mistakes and mix-ups in communication that often occur when Mercury is retrograde.

·       Consider your relationships and what you value and how you want to change them or be changed.

·       Tuesday, October 27, the Moon is void of course all day. Reschedule meetings, as not much is likely to develop or result from them. Tuesday is a good day for gardening, reading, checking email, and puttering.

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
