Sun in Virgo August 22-September 22
Sun in Virgo August 22-September 22

The Sun moves into Virgo tropically Saturday, August 22, ushering in a month for cleaning up our lives, diving into our studies, tending to our health, and getting things done.

Mercury moves into Virgo on Tuesday, August 25, and will be strong here in its ruling sign through September 10. With the Sun and Mercury in Virgo we will want to make lists and get organized for a productive next few weeks.

A Partial Lunar Eclipse occurs on August 27 at 4:54 degrees of Virgo.  Eclipse days are power surges. Blocks and obstacles may appear, but working with them can be doorways to personal growth.

There are three long void-of-course periods this week (all in Pacific Time):

·         August 23 at 11:30 pm through August 25 at 2:01 am (Moon into Aquarius)

·         August 26 at 2:59 pm through August 27 at 12:03 pm (Moon into Pisces)

·         August 28 at 9:14 am through August 29 at 7:37 pm (Moon into Aries)

When the Moon is void it is not making a major aspect with other planets, and thus, not much is happening. We have a hard time making up our minds about matters, and meetings and connections often do not come together. These times are best for tending to routine tasks and doing things like gardening, reading, or processing email.

This Week:

Saturday until 7:18 p.m. PDT, August 22, the Moon is in Sagittarius. We are called to outdoor adventure and expansive thoughts.

Saturday afternoon through Monday, August 22-24, the Moon is in Capricorn. The Sun enters Virgo at 7:18 p.m. PDT on Saturday, conjuncts the lion-hearted fixed star Regulus, and conjuncts the South Node, urging us to let go of what is no longer useful in our lives. The Sun trines Chiron, offering wise holistic solutions to our own healing or to the needs of others. Saturday evening the emerging Capricorn Moon forms a Grand Trine with Chiron and the Moon, giving super strong energy for grounding and planning. It is time to get things done. This window of time is highly productive, supported by the luminaries in hard-working earth signs. Monday the Moon is void of course all day. Focus on routine tasks and activities other than meetings matters requiring consequential decisions.

Tuesday through Thursday at 12:03 p.m. PDT, August 25-27, the Moon is in Aquarius. The focus is on community, and we are called to gather with friends. Tuesday the Moon opposes Jupiter, giving optimism and confidence. Mercury enters Virgo on Tuesday where it will reside until September 10. Mercury is at its best in Virgo, its rulership. With both Mercury and the Sun in Virgo, we will be motivated to make lists, get organized, and plan for a highly productive next few weeks. On Wednesday the Virgo Sun makes inconjuncts to Pluto and Neptune, or a Yod formation. The intuitive combines with what is practical and necessary. This combination enables you to stretch beyond your usual way of operating and move toward wiser decisions. The Moon is void of course Wednesday, August 26 at 2:59 p.m. through Thursday, August 27, at 12:03 p.m. PDT.

Thursday afternoon (12:03 p.m. PDT) through Saturday, the Moon is in Pisces. The Moon comes to its fullness and makes a partial Lunar Eclipse at 9:18 p.m. PDT. Eclipses are power surges and may bring something to light. Keep things simple and go easy on Thursday.

Friday, August 28, Mercury squares Uranus, an aspect that enables us to solve problems in new, creative ways. Invite new perspectives by changing your routes or your routines, or doing something completely new. The Moon is void of course from Friday at 9:14 a.m. through August 29 at 7:37 p.m. (yes, for nearly two full days!).

Sunday through Monday afternoon at 12:47 p.m. PDT, August 30-31, the Moon is in Aries, signaling that it is time to get into action. Sunday the Moon conjuncts Saturn and squares Mars. We are reminded of our responsibilities, but we may feel limitations in tending to them. Monday the Moon opposes Venus, inviting us to sweeten our relationships and consider what we value.

Planetary Pointers for the week ahead:

·         This week is super productive. Make lists and plan to get a lot of routine tasks accomplished.

·         Pause on Thursday, the day of the eclipse. Work with blocks and obstacles to open doorways. Keep things simple.

·         Plan the week carefully. There is a lot of time when the Moon is void of course. During these times it is best to focus on routine, inconsequential tasks. Meetings often do not come together. And decisions made during a void Moon often fizzle or need to be reconsidered later.

·         Clean up your diet and your surroundings.

Ten Things to Do with Venus in Libra (August 6-September 9):

  1. Make a special date night with your beloved on Fridays, Venus' Day.

  2. Express affection.

  3. Deepen relationships.

  4. Work out interpersonal conflicts; Venus gives the grace and consideration to do it.

  5. Let your good manners shine.

  6. Dress well and be beautiful.

  7. Make your home a sparkling, peaceful, inspiring place to be.

  8. Host a gathering with close friends; set a pleasing table and share your social graces.

  9. Visit an art gallery.

  10. Surround yourself with beauty,

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
