In the Stars August 2-9, 2026 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

The Sun shines in Leo until August 22. The Sun is brilliant here in its ruling sign, symbolized by a regal, roaring lion, king of the jungle. Leos command attention and love to be appreciated, so shower the Leos in your life with appreciation. Leo symbolizes children, play, and creativity. Enjoy the summer with lots of recreation and fun.
Venus, Mercury, and Mars change signs this month. On August 6, Venus changes from meticulous Virgo to a place of power, one of the signs it rules, Libra. Relationships become a focus with Venus in Libra. August 9 Mercury enters Leo, and on August 11 Mars moves out of Gemini into Cancer.
The big news this month is that there are two eclipses: a Total Solar Eclipse on August 12 at 20 degrees of Leo, and a Partial Lunar Eclipse on August 27 at 4:54 degrees of Virgo. If you have planets or angles within 2-3 degrees of the eclipses, you maybe impacted. For example, I have Mercury, Pluto, and the South Node near 20 degrees of Leo, and the Sun within 2 degrees of the August 27th eclipse. As a result of my recent surgery, I decided not to go on the trip I had planned to take to Europe during the eclipse period. These two weeks bookended by the eclipses can be intense, so go easy and keep things simple.
Chiron goes retrograde Monday, August 3, at the first degree of Taurus. It will be retrograde until January 6, 2027. Chiron is more than the wounded healer archetype; Chiron was a teacher and mentor, a wise person who knew a great deal about many subjects. Chiron retrograde in Taurus invites us to ponder our values and resources, to learn more about making money, and spending carefully and wisely.
The void Moon periods this week are not quite as long as they have been the last two weeks, but there are somewhat long periods on the following three days:
· August 2: 5:33 am-1:36 pm PDT (Moon into Aries)
· August 4: 11:51 am-7:35 pm PDT (Moon into Taurus)
· August 6: 4:24 pm-11:07 pm PDT (Moon into Gemini)
Decisions are difficult when the Moon is void, and meetings often are delayed or don’t come together. Void Moon times are better for activities such as hiking, gardening, or reading, so plan accordingly. Read more about the void-of-course Moon at the end of this blog.

This Week:
Saturday through Sunday afternoon at 1:36 pm PDT, August 1-2, the Moon is in dreamy Pisces. Relax at an inspiring concert. Express your creative self with drawing, painting, playing music, or gardening. Pisces is compassionate, so sprinkle extra kindness and concern to those around you.
Sunday afternoon through Tuesday, August 2-4, the Moon is in Aries. The Moon in Aries signals that it is time to get moving. On Monday, August 3, the Moon trines the Sun, and the Moon conjuncts Saturn and trines Jupiter. This is an opportune business day, and one for getting things done. Say yes to opportunities and take action. Be spontaneous. Chiron turns retrograde on Monday at 0:52 Taurus, where it will be for the next five months. This triggers an invitation to ponder your finances in a deeper way. Set some goals for yourself to learn more about how you could better manage your money and resources.
Wednesday and Thursday, August 5-6, the Moon is in Taurus. Wednesday is a hard-working day that may present tests and challenges. The practical, measured Taurus Moon will help you move through them with patience. In contrast to Wednesday, Thursday holds some flowing, congenial aspects from the Moon to Mercury and Venus. A Sun-Saturn trine helps ease the work flow. The Taurus Moon loves good food, so be sure to honor her by eating well while the Moon is in Taurus.
Friday and Saturday, August 7-8, the Moon is in Gemini. Curiosity is stirred. We may feel restless and want to take an excursion. The Gemini Moon is talkative; you will want to engage in conversations about a variety of different topics.
Sunday and Monday, August 9-10, the Moon is in Cancer. This is the time of the month when the focus is on home and family. Mercury moves into creative Leo on Sunday. The Moon squares Neptune and Venus, churning up fantasies and desires.
Planetary Pointers for the week ahead:
· Have fun and enjoy the long days of summer.
· Take advantage of business opportunities that come your way.
· Express your creativity.
· Please your senses this week with a special dinner on Wednesday or Thursday.

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
