In the Stars July 11-19, 2026 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

The Sun continues to shine in Cancer, highlighting home, family, and tradition. The next ten days invite cooking, gardening, and family get-togethers.
A New Moon forms on Tuesday, July 14 at 2:44 a.m. PDT, at 21:59 degrees of Cancer. The Sabian Symbol is “A Young Person Awaiting a Sailboat.” This speaks to anticipation and not missing opportunities through inaction. Put your relationships on sound footing.
Mercury continues in retrograde motion until July 23. Take the opportunity to review, reconsider, revise, and re-work plans and projects. It is a good time to clean up email in your in box, and make repairs.
There are four long void Moon periods this week:
Saturday, July 11, at 3:11 pm through Sunday, July 12, at 3:46 pm PDT.
Tuesday, July 14, from 2:43 am through 3:35 pm PDT.
Wednesday, July 15 at 3:26 pm PDT through July 16 at 5:07 pm PDT.
Saturday, July 18, from 3:13 pm to 9:56 pm PDT.
Decisions are difficult when the Moon is void, and meeting often are delayed or don’t come together. It can even be hard to decide what to wear when the Moon is void. These void times are better for activities such as hiking, gardening, or reading, so plan accordingly. Read more about the void-of-course Moon at the end of this blog.
Considered to be the best meteor shower of the year, the Perseids begin on July 17 and are expected to last until August 24, peaking the night of August 12-13. Meteor showers (often called shooting stars) are produced when pieces of comet debris heat up and burn as they enter the Earth's atmosphere, resulting in bright bursts of light streaking across the sky. The Perseids get their name from the constellation Perseus since the meteors appear to radiate from that part of the sky.

This Week:
Saturday through Sunday afternoon (3:46 pm PDT), July 11-12, the Moon is in Gemini. This mutable air Moon is curious and loves to converse, question, and explore. Take a short distance trip. Plan to go somewhere new that is near to you. Explore a museum, or the history of place around where you live. Saturday the Moon conjuncts Mars, giving us energy, but it can also generate frustration if overheated. The Moon and Ceres are conjunct in Gemini, inviting caring connections. Sunday the Sun conjuncts Mercury; speak from the heart.
Sunday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon (3:35 pm PDT), July 12-14, the Moon is in Cancer. The focus now is on home and family. Venus squares Uranus. You may have a sudden realization about your love life, your expenditures, or your values. Or you may find a new way to do something more efficiently. Sunday and Monday the Moon is dark, so take some quiet space for yourself for self-reflection. There is a New Moon Tuesday, July 14, at 21:59 degrees of Cancer, calling us to set intentions around themes of home and family. Reach out with hugs and gestures of caring.
Wednesday afternoon at 3:35 pm PDT through Thursday afternoon, July 16, the Moon is in Leo. It’s time for play! Make play out of your work. Do something extra fun with your children, grandchildren, or the children in your neighborhood. Wear bright colors; express enthusiasm.
Thursday evening through Saturday, July 16-18, the Moon is in Virgo. This is the time of the month that calls for efficient work to put our lives in order. Check off as many small tasks on your “to do” list as possible. Saturday the Moon makes an agreeable sextile to the Sun, setting the stage for a pleasant day.
Sunday and Monday, July 19-20, the Moon is in Libra. We open to social opportunities and connections. On Sunday the Moon opposes Saturn, reminding us of commitments and limitations.

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
