Total Solar Eclipse August 12, 2026, at 10:36 a.m. PDT, at 20:01 degrees Leo

The Sun shines in Leo until August 22. The Sun is brilliant here in its ruling sign. Leos command attention and love to be appreciated, so shower the Leos in your life with special attention. Leo symbolizes children, play, fun, and creativity. Enjoy!

On August 6, Venus moved into Libra, one of its ruling signs Libra. Relationships become a focus with Venus in Libra. See “Ten Things to Do with Venus in Libra” below. Sunday, August 9, Mercury enters Leo, and on August 11 Mars moves out of Gemini into Cancer.

The big news this week is the Total Solar Eclipse on August 12 at 20 degrees of Leo. A Partial Lunar Eclipse occurs on August 27 at 4:54 degrees of Virgo.  If you have planets or angles within 2 degrees of the eclipses, you maybe impacted. These two weeks bookended by the eclipses can be intense, so go easy and keep things simple.

Three more long void Moon periods occur this week:

·         August 10 at 12:30 am through August 11 at 1:38 am (Moon in Leo)

·         August 12 at 10:36 am through August 13 at 3:18 am (Moon into Virgo)

·         August 13 at 12:23 pm through August 15 at 7:19 am (Moon into Libra)

Decisions are difficult when the Moon is void, and meetings often are delayed or don’t come together. Void Moon times are better for activities such as hiking, gardening, or reading, so plan accordingly. Read more about the void-of-course Moon at the end of this blog.

This Week:

Saturday, August 8, the Moon is in Gemini. Curiosity is stirred. We may feel restless and want to take an excursion. The Gemini Moon is talkative and social; you will want to engage in conversations about a variety of different topics.

Sunday and Monday, August 9-10, the Moon is in Cancer. This is the time of the month when the focus is on home and family. Mercury moves into creative Leo on Sunday where it will be until August 25. Mercury in Leo loves to play games and solve problems; the creative mind is active with imagination and inspiration. The Moon squares Neptune and Venus, churning up fantasies and desires.

Tuesday and Wednesday, August 11-12, the Moon is in Leo. On Tuesday Mars enters Cancer, inviting us to focus on home projects. The Moon makes five supportive aspects. There are five planets, in addition to the Moon, that make buoyant sextiles to each other: Venus to Mercury to Uranus to Neptune to Pluto. Venus, Uranus, and Pluto form a Grand Air Trine, and Mercury is trine to Neptune. Expect an active, optimistic, surprising day. Some things you have been working toward may come together. With Venus prominently involved, your love life or your finances may get a boost.

The Total Solar Eclipse perfects on Wednesday, August 12, at 10:36 a.m. PDT at 20:01 degrees of Leo.  The eclipse begins a long void Moon period that lasts 3:18 a.m. on Thursday. This could be a turbulent day, so stay grounded, and keep things simple.  It could also be a magical day. Eclipses are power surges. Winds of change are blowing.

Thursday and Friday, August 13-14, the Moon is in Virgo. This is the time of the month for clean-up and getting your life in order. Mercury sextiles Venus. Sweet conversations may move the needle forward in your life.

Saturday through Monday afternoon, August 15-17, the Moon is in Libra. The focus is on relationships. We are drawn to social outings. On Saturday Mercury conjuncts Jupiter. Optimism is ignited; ideas pour forth. Expansive solutions for projects and next steps emerge.

Planetary Pointers for the week ahead:

·         Have fun enjoying the long days of summer.

·         Visualize optimism. Open to creative, positive solutions and outcomes.

·         Take it easy and especially be mindful on Wednesday, August 12, the day of the Solar Eclipse. Keep things simple and refrain from risks.

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
