In the Stars April 23-30, 2023 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

The Sun shines in Taurus now tropically. Taurus symbolizes stability, financial security, and pleasure of all kinds such as good food, uplifting music, arousing smells, and beauty. The solar month of Taurus invites sweetness, delight, and romance.

If you happen to read this on Saturday, April 22, know that in Vedic astrology this is the special day of Akssaya Trtiya when both the Sun and Moon are exalted. In sidereal astrology the Sun is in Aries and the Moon is in Taurus. It is a day for all activities to prosper and succeed. This is in effect until 7:18 p.m. PDT Saturday, April 22, having begun at 7:20 p.m. PDT on Friday, April 21. This is an auspicious time to start any new project.

Mercury is now retrograde until May 15th, and its shadow period lasts until May 31st. Now is the time to review, reconsider, revise, and renovate. Pluto turns retrograde on Monday, May 1st, starting its 5-month backward spin.

Mars is Out of Bounds (OOB) only for a few more days until May 4, the day before the Lunar Eclipse. The planet expresses itself unbounded, or without limits, so the next ten days are particularly volatile, as well as productive.

We feel a call to expansive adventure on Sunday, with Jupiter conjunct Eris, and Mercury and Mars sextile. Engaging conversations abound. Be curious.

The Sun conjuncts the North Node on Monday, encouraging our spiritual growth. The Moon is void of course all morning, making for an undefined start to the work week. Stick to routine tasks Monday morning until the Moon moves into compassionate, caring Cancer at 11:58 a.m. PDT. Benefic aspects to the Moon support an emotionally satisfying, flowing afternoon and evening.

Tuesday’s Sun-Saturn sextile provides a grounded field for the day’s endeavors. A Venus-Chiron sextile promotes relationship healing. The Cancer Moon-Mars conjunction late in the day may trigger irritations; however, you can shake it off thanks to the Moon-Uranus sextile that presents intriguing diversions.

Energy is conflicted on Wednesday due to the Cancer Moon’s square to Eris and Jupiter; however, a Moon-Neptune trine can settle any discord with compassion and acceptance. Focus attention on home, family, and comfort.

Thursday holds the enthusiasm and playfulness of the Leo Moon, but there is tension in the air from a Mars-Chiron square, and the first quarter Leo Moon square to the Taurus Sun. Thursday is Jupiter’s Day (Jueves), and holds benefic energy that may tip the scale in a positive direction.

Friday is an exuberant day with the Moon in Leo. The Moon’s square to Uranus in the afternoon may create some disruptions, diversions, and surprises. A Moon-Venus sextile invites us into social gatherings and conversations.

Excitement is amplified early Saturday morning by the Moon’s trines to Eris and Jupiter. However, the Moon is void of course all morning until 11:59 a.m. PDT. Thus, the first part of the day is better for insignificant tasks, exercise, and play. When the Moon arrives in Virgo at noon PDT, it signals that it is time to put your life in order for the next couple of days. Make your “to do” list and work to check things off. A Mars-Uranus sextile is the major aspect of the day, inviting calculated risks, creative problem solving, and innovation.

Sunday is a harmonious, grounded, productive day when a lot can be accomplished. The Virgo Moon trines the Taurus Sun and Mercury. This would be a great day to work on home projects and anything that needs to be cleaned up and organized.

On May Day Monday Pluto stations retrograde. When planets are stationary, turning direction, their energy is strong. Thus, this day is laden with powerful, transformative possibility. The Virgo Moon squares Venus, and the aspect may stir up some agitation. On a positive note, you can use the tension to lean in and get a lot accomplished. The Sun conjuncts Mercury, which is retrograde, inviting the review or revision of a project. This is a supercharged, productive day when much can be accomplished until late afternoon. At 4:53 p.m. PDT the Moon opposes Neptune, calling for time out to relax and listen to music or watch a movie. The Moon is void of course from 4:53 p.m. PDT until 11: 50 p.m. PDT when it moves into Libra. The Week in Short: Sunday: Engage in conversations and take a short excursion.

Monday: Moon VoC 5:14 a.m.-11:58 a.m. PDT, a time for tending to insignificant tasks. Then at noon, the day flows and is emotionally satisfying.

Tuesday: Productive work day with opportunity for emotional healing.

Wednesday: Edgy day prone to conflicts, but compassion and empathy abound. Allow yourself to be comfortable.

Thursday: Exuberant, playful, and yet somewhat agitated day.

Friday: Creative day with some disruptions. Enjoy a social evening with stimulating exchanges.

Saturday: Moon VoC until 11:59 a.m., so focus on insignificant tasks in the morning. Saturday afternoon invites industry and productivity. Creative problem solving and innovation are possible.

Sunday: Harmonious, grounded day to get your life in order.

Monday: Powerful, productive day. Pluto turns retrograde. Moon VoC 4:53 p.m.-11:50 p.m. PDT.

Ten Things to Do with the Venus in Gemini (April 10-May 7) 1. Browse in a bookstore. 2. Exercise flexibility in relationship. 3. Call someone with whom you’ve been out of touch. 4. Acknowledge the various expressions of love in your everyday life. 5. Write letters. 6. Plan a short trip. 7. Take an internet excursion and make at least three new discoveries. 8. Explore your surroundings and discover something new. 9. Connect with aunts, uncles, or cousins. 10. Think (and act) more flexibly with money matters—learn something new about finances.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
