In the Stars March 24-31, 2024 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week
The coming week is sandwiched between the lunar and solar eclipses, so keep things as simple as possible, as the energy is volatile. Eclipses can bring sudden changes and opportunities. The Total Solar Eclipse April 8. can be seen in North America. Its path of totality cuts from Austin, Texas, through southeast Missouri, Indianapolis, Cleveland, and Maine. This eclipse is loaded with planetary energy, as Mercury retrograde, Chiron, and Eris conjunct the Sun, Moon, and North Node. I’ll be watching it (with eclipse glasses) with my siblings in Indianapolis.
Mercury turns retrograde on Monday, April 1, April Fool’s Day, at 27 degrees of Aries. The retrograde period April 1-26 is a time for pause, review, and re-thinking.
The Jupiter-Uranus conjunction continues to tighten. This week these planets are 2-3 degrees apart, moving toward an exact conjunction April 17-21. This aspect, occurring once every 13 years, is powerfully innovative and expansive. Now is a great time to start an creative project. Allow your imagination to soar; this time holds great energy for invention and discovery.

Saturday and Sunday, March 30-31, are buoyant, adventurous days. Saturday the Sagittarius Sun makes a benefic trine to the Aries Sun. Also at play is a Moon-Saturn square, reminding us of responsibilities and limitations. All together, the day’s aspects give strength and balance.
Easter Sunday carries more discordant aspects, but the Sagittarius Moon’s optimism will prevail.
Mercury the trickster turns retrograde on Monday, April Fool’s Day. The planet turns direct at 27 degrees of Aries, initiating a 24-day period of introspection and re-examination. A Moon-Saturn sextile in the evening grounds us and helps us figure out practical solutions to problems.
Tuesday, April 2, is a dynamic day of mixed planetary energies. We wake up invigorated to make the most of the work day thanks to a Moon-Jupiter trine. Then the Moon trines Uranus, lifting our perspective and enabling us to tune into higher wisdom. Something surprising may appear. In contrast, the Moon squares Chiron and Eris, triggering insecurities and irritations. However, later in the day the Moon’s opportunistic trines to Venus and Neptune soften the edges and invite us into a sweet, dreamy evening.
The Moon conjuncts Pluto early Wednesday morning, April 3, stirring deep inquiry and compassion for humanitarian concerns. Venus and Neptune conjunct at 28 degrees of Pisces, offering insight and imagination, and a glimpse of a better, more friendly world.
In contrast to Wednesday’s inviting energy, Thursday, April 4, is a more restless and cantankerous day. Independence is a strong theme as the Aquarius Moon squares Jupiter and Uranus. Venus enters Aries where it will be for the next 25 days tropically, encouraging new relationships and creative projects (See Ten Things to Do with Venus in Aries below). The Aries Sun conjuncts the North Node, shining light on our truth and purpose.
Friday, April 5, is a gentle end to the work week as the Moon enters Pisces. The day is softer and easier, containing few aspects. Indulge in a sweet, relaxing evening.
We are reminded of our responsibilities on Saturday, April 6, as the Pisces Moon conjuncts Saturn. Tend to your weekend chores. A passionate Venus-Pluto sextile invites us to work on a project that has heart and meaning, or to spend quality time with a friend or beloved. Drift into dreamland with the inspiration of a Moon-Neptune conjunction.
We bounce out of bed ready invigorated Sunday, April 7, as the Moon enters Aries, conjuncts Venus, and sextiles Pluto. However, go carefully and mindfully as the Moon is dark and we are one day from the Total Solar Eclipse.
The New Moon on Monday, April 8, at 11:20 a.m. PDT, forms a Total Solar Eclipse at 19:23 degrees of Aries with the North Node. Chiron exactly conjunct the New Moon, and Mercury and Eris are close within a few degrees. Chiron’s influence in the eclipse harbors potential for new healing modalities to emerge over the next few months. Set new intentions for starting projects and taking risks at this potent New Moon in Aries, and with Jupiter and Uranus nearly conjunct.

Moon Void of Course:
This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.Void-of-Course Moon times for the month ahead (one lunar cycle):Pacific Standard Time:
