In the Stars April 7-14, 2024 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week: Total Solar Eclipse

The Total Solar Eclipse is Monday, April 8, at 11:20 a.m. PDT. Its path of totality goes across America from Austin, Texas through southeast Missouri, Indianapolis, Cleveland, and Maine. This eclipse is loaded with planetary energy, as Mercury retrograde, Chiron, and Eris conjunct the Sun, Moon, and North Node. I’ll be watching it (with eclipse glasses) with my siblings in Indianapolis.

The Sabian Symbol for the Solar Eclipse at 19:24 Aires is A Young Person Feeding Birds in Winter. This symbol indicates the ability to help those in need.

Mercury is retrograde through April 26; it is now a time to pause, review, re-think, and revise.

The Jupiter-Uranus conjunction tightens. This week these planets are 1-3 degrees apart, moving toward an exact conjunction April 17-21. This aspect, occurring once every 13 years, is powerfully innovative and expansive. Now is a great time to start an innovative project. Be expansive in your imagination about what is possible, as this time holds great energy for invention and discovery.

We bounce out of bed, ready for action Sunday, April 7, as the Moon enters Aries, conjuncts Venus, and sextiles Pluto. However, go carefully and mindfully as the Moon is dark and we are one day from the Total Solar Eclipse.

The New Moon on Monday, April 8, at 11:20 a.m. PDT, forms a Total Solar Eclipse at 19:23 degrees of Aries with the North Node. Chiron exactly conjuncts the New Moon, and Mercury and Eris are close within a few degrees. Chiron’s influence in the eclipse harbors potential for healing over the next few months. Set new intentions for starting projects, stretching, and expanding yourself at this potent New Moon in Aries.

Tuesday morning, April 9, sports a tense Moon-Pluto square that does not ease the tension of yesterday’s eclipse. While the Moon is exalted in Taurus, energies are strong and volatile. This may be another day of upheaval, so keep your life as simple as possible.

Mars and Saturn conjunct exactly on Wednesday, April 10. Ambitious goals proceed cautiously. The Taurus Moon’s alignments with Jupiter and Uranus amplify life's pleasantries and may bring some unexpected fun.

Thursday’s Gemini Moon ignites a stimulating day with various activities and connections. The Moon’s trine to Pluto widens our perception which we will be eager to share.

On Friday, April 12, the Moon squares Saturn and Mars, generating tension and irritation. However, in contrast the Moon also makes benefic sextiles to Chiron, Mercury, and the Sun, offering opportunities and insights.

Confusion casts a spell on Saturday morning, April 13, due to a Moon-Neptune square. This begins a void Moon period at 7:38 a.m. that goes through 9:50 a.m. when the Moon moves into Cancer. Mars forms a frustrating semi-square to Pluto and contributes to the storm that is fueled by the Sun-Eris conjunction.

Sunday’s Cancer Moon desires cozy time at home with family. However, there are numerous hard aspects that compromise comfort and the desire for good feelings. The Cancer Moon squares Venus, Chiron, and Mercury, and opposes Ceres. The Moon’s trines to Mars and Saturn provide some sound footing and ease. Family relations will undoubtedly need some attention.

Retrograde Mercury conjuncts Chiron on Monday, April 15, calling in heartfelt conversations about wounded feelings. A Moon-Pluto opposition in the evening adds to the fury. This is a volatile day when we will need to tend to sensitive feelings.

                                                                                                                                                                                                           The Week in Short:

Sunday: Bounce out of bed and engage in an adventurous day, but go carefully, and take some quiet time for yourself in the dark of the Moon.

Monday: Total Solar Eclipse. Powerful day. Go easy.

Tuesday: Tense day with potential for upheaval. Keep things simple and as easy as possible.

Wednesday: Proceed with ambition and caution. Expect pleasure and surprise.

Thursday: Stimulating day. Perception widens.

Saturday: Moon VoC 7:38 a.m.-9:50 a.m. PDT. The morning may be confusing. Dynamic, stormy day.

Sunday: Family wounds need attending.

Monday: Strong, sensitive feelings are present. We need to face them with consciousness.

Moon Void of Course:

This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.Void-of-Course Moon times for the month ahead (one lunar cycle):Pacific Standard Time:
