In the Stars March 24-31, 2024 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

Lunar Eclipse May 26, 202, photo by Leo Figgs

The penumbral Lunar Eclipse occurs as the clock strikes midnight Sunday, March 25 at 5:07 Libra. Although this eclipse is subtle, it carried the extra power of a trine from Pluto. This lunar eclipse will be followed by the eclipse portal of two weeks before the Total Solar Eclipse of April 8. The two weeks between the eclipses the planetary energy is intense, so keep things as simple as possible then. Eclipses can bring sudden changes and opportunities to accelerate your journey. This Total Solar Eclipse can be seen in North America. Its path of totality cuts from Austin, Texas through southeast Missouri, Indianapolis, Cleveland, and Maine. I’ll be watching it (with eclipse glasses) with my siblings in Indianapolis.

Mercury turns retrograde on April Fool’s Day, April 1, at 27 degrees of Aries. This week is Finish travel arrangements, communication, and tasks you want to move forward in the coming days before the retrograde period April 1-26, which is a time for pause, review, and re-thinking.

The Jupiter-Uranus conjunction continues to tighten. This week these planets are 3-5 degrees apart, moving toward an exact conjunction April 17-21. This aspect, occurring once every 13 years, is powerfully innovative and expansive. Now is a great time to start an innovative project. Be expansive in your imagination about what is possible, as this spring holds great energy for invention and discovery.

Sunday, March 24, starts slow and dreamy with the Moon conjunct Neptune, followed by the Moon being void of course from 8:48 a.m. to 1:37 p.m. PDT. Enjoy a leisurely Sunday morning reading, gardening, or tending to your home. After the Moon enters Libra at 1:38 p.m. PDT, you will want to reach out to friends and loved ones and engage socially. The Moon trines Pluto in the afternoon, building a desire for connection. A Venus-Jupiter sextile helps to make this Sunday an optimistic, delightful day leading up to the Lunar Eclipse at Midnight. Keep things simple given the intensity of an eclipse.

As noted above, at midnight Monday, March 25 the Full Moon perfects, forming a penumbral Lunar Eclipse at 5:07 degrees of Libra. Relationship themes are activated; we consider the balance of self and other. The Aries Sun makes a semi-square to Uranus, perhaps provoking impulsive actions. Go carefully and easily, as there is a lot of intense energy in an eclipse.

Passionate, perhaps aggravated, conversations will occur on Tuesday, March 26, due to a Mercury-Eris conjunction. The Libra Moon opposes Chiron, increasing sensitivities. When the Moon opposes Mercury and Eris later in the day, we are prone to agitation.

Feathers may remain ruffled on Wednesday, March 27, as the Scorpio Moon stirs deep feelings. The Moon’s square to Pluto early morning sets the day off with an energized, perhaps explosive, tone. However, a Moon-Mars trine may improve the mood of the day. The Scorpio Moon desires private time, so take some space.

Thursday, March 28, is highly creative due to a Venus-Uranus sextile. The Moon’s alignments with Jupiter and Venus may bring twists, turns, surprises, and some drama.

Friday morning is framed with a mystical aura due to a Moon-Neptune trine in water signs Scorpio and Pisces. This aspect begins a void Moon period until 12:52 p.m. PDT when the Moon bounces into Sagittarius to mark the beginning of a fun weekend. Garner the drive of a Moon-Pluto sextile to finish your work so that you engage in a diverse, expansive social evening.

Saturday and Sunday, March 30-31, are buoyant, adventurous days. Saturday the Sagittarius Sun makes a benefic trine to the Aries Sun. Also at play is a Moon-Saturn square, reminding us of responsibilities and limitations. All together, the day’s aspects give strength and balance. Sunday carries more discordant aspects, but the Sagittarius Moon’s optimism will prevail.

Mercury the trickster turns retrograde on Monday, April Fool’s Day. The planet turns direction at 27 degrees of Aries, initiating a 24-day period of introspection and re-examination of various aspects of our lives. A Moon-Saturn sextile in the evening helps us ground. We are able to figure out practical solutions to problems.

Moon Void of Course:

This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
