In the Stars January 17-24, 2021...shining light on the astrology of the week

This week holds the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. The Inauguration horoscope, is fiery and volatile with the Aries Moon at 29 degrees near the exact hot conjunction of Mars and Uranus. The Aquarius Sun is sandwiched between Saturn and Pluto. Inauguration Day marks the Sun’s entry into Aquarius tropically, ushering in a month highlighting community, social justice, friendship, technology, and innovation. The early days of the week through the inauguration are super-tense. The tension will ease a little toward the end of the week, and the Gemini Moon on the weekend will lighten things up.

There is a Kala Sarpa Yoga through January 24th from the Vedic perspective, which occurs when all planets are on one side of the nodal access. All planets hemmed in by the nodes, an alignment that adds to the tension of this week’s energies.

I share a worthwhile meditation for these turbulent times, taken from a recent Damanhur newsletter: “Each one of our lives across the planet has been called to the test of great changes. What we believed were certainties are collapsing one after another putting into consideration our set of values, urging us to rethink and reinvent ourselves, offering us the chance to come closer to the core of our essence. These are the times that all the prophecies speak about. The Earth is changing its frequency. Great spiritual forces are now reaching out to those ready to elevate their Consciousness.”

Jupiter and Uranus square off, pushing us toward creative endeavors and breakthroughs. We can garner optimism regarding the collective issues of humanity. The Moon is void of course from 12:55 p.m. through 11:07 p.m. PST. Work in your yard and garden. Dabble in artistic projects, and give yourself a break before the work week starts tomorrow at full throttle.

Bounce out of bed and get moving on this active Monday. Lean into your work during these last two days of the Sun in Capricorn. We are confident and energized, but with Mars nearly conjunct Uranus, take care, as this is a reckless, yet creative, energy.

The Sun ingresses into Aquarius on Tuesday at 12:39 pm PST. The day is fueled with get-up-and-go. Mars and Uranus are nearly conjunct, and combined with the Aries Moon, there’s a lot of heat in the day. Move cautiously and keep your cool.

Wednesday is the day of the Inauguration of the U.S. President Joe Biden. The planetary energy is volatile and potentially violent. Mars and Jupiter are exactly conjunct, and the Moon comes to that point late in the evening. Let’s hope that the fireworks that symbolize this planetary alignment are in celebration rather than an eruption of violence. There is enormous creativity and energy in the cosmic pattern that we can use for good. Meditate on peace and calm across our country.

We long to connect with friends and loved ones on Thursday with the Moon making a benefic trine to Venus. Thankfully, we are on the other side of the Mars-Uranus-Moon conjunction. At this writing, I hope that by this day we have passed peacefully through the intense energies of the inauguration. It is a new day—and a sensual one. Allow yourself to rest and indulge. Infuse beauty and pleasure into your day.

Friday, Venus’ day, is so welcome at the end of this intense week. The Moon in Taurus invites repose. The Moon is void of course for a long period from 1:27 p.m. through 11:42 p.m. PST. Kick back early in the afternoon, and enjoy a scrumptious dinner, listen to music, and relax.

We want to converse and connect on Saturday. A Jupiter-Moon trine and a Venus-Neptune sextile lift our spirits and give us vision and optimism. The Sun conjuncts Saturn, calling us back to reality, and to make plans for the future. The Gemini Moon makes a benefic trine to the Sun-Saturn conjunction. Saturday is a lovely day with great potential for many dimensions of our lives. In the light of the Gemini Moon, this weekend calls us to connect with our siblings.

On Sunday the Gemini Moon conjuncts the North Node and squares Neptune, magnifying the symbolism of the Neptune-nodal square which can be about the illumination of truth. The discovery of hidden issues will likely continue to emerge. Four ourselves, the alignment is an invitation to tune into to our own truth and vision. Conversation and connection continue to be a theme.

Monday may be moody as the Moon shifts from Gemini to Cancer. We are more caring and compassionate. We may grow more sensitive as the day wears on, due to a Moon-Chiron square. It is time to turn to home and family. Cook a nourishing meal for dinner, and cozy up with loved ones in the evening.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
