In the Stars June 25-July 2, 2023 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

The Sun has moved into Cancer, focusing us on home and family for the next solar month. Picnics and family gatherings are in order, as is gardening and sprucing up our homes.

Neptune stations to move retrograde on Friday, joining Pluto and Saturn that are already in retrograde.

A SuperMoon Full Moon forms on Monday, July 3. Here we are called to balance the need for nurturing with the need for meeting goals and ambitions.

Mercury squares Neptune on Sunday, June 25, giving idealistic thinking; we may lack clarity. However, The powerful force of a Moon-Pluto trine in grounded work signs Virgo and Capricorn may still enable us to get a lot accomplished. When the Moon moves into Libra at 3:57 p.m. PDT we relax into a social evening.

Jupiter sextiles Saturn exactly on Monday, June 21, at 7 degrees of Taurus and Pisces, in effect for most of the last and next weeks. The combination expands realistic ideas. It offers courage, decisiveness, and mastery. Optimism and good judgment are influences. Deep thinking and agitation is stirred up by Mercury’s hard angle to Pluto. A benefic Moon-Uranus sextile in the evening breaks apart any difficult emotional issues.

Tuesday’s Libra Moon that loves harmony meets with several disharmonious aspects as it opposes Chiron and Eris, and then later in the day, squares Pluto. On a different note, a benefic Mercury-North Node sextile can guide us toward peaceful resolutions.

The Sun trines Saturn on Wednesday, June 28, creating a grounded, patient field of energy for the day’s activities. The Scorpio Moon makes three benefic trines to Mercury, Sun, and Saturn. These good aspects will help calm the waters disrupted by an early morning Sun-Uranus semi-square. A Moon-Jupiter opposition amplifies feelings. Overall, this is a good day.

Thursday, June 29, Mercury is trine Saturn, and serves as an anchor of reason for the day. The day can be disruptive and unsettling due to a Scorpio Moon-Venus square and a Moon-Venus opposition. There could be surprises in relationships. Feelings run strong.

Neptune stations retrograde on Friday, June 30, just after making a trine to the Moon, infusing the day with dreams. The Moon moves into Sagittarius around 8 a.m., putting a bounce in the day. However, with Neptune stationary, there could be confusion, so it is best to go with the flow. The Moon’s square to Saturn later in the day may throw some obstacles or limitations into the evening. The optimism of the Sag Moon will make lemonade out of lemons.

Saturday, July 1, holds the vision of a short-term grand trine, including the Moon in Sagittarius, Chiron in Aries, and Venus in Leo. This benefic grand trine energy will override the tension of a Sun-Mars semi-square.

We may want to sleep in on Sunday morning, July 2, and catch more dreams, as the Moon squares Neptune. However, a Mars-Eris trine gets the day moving. At 10:13 a.m. PDT the Moon moves into Capricorn, giving industry for accomplishing weekend chores. The evening’s Moon-Saturn sextile gives sensibility, and turns us toward our work. Venus squares Uranus, igniting a feeling of independence.

A SuperMoon brightens Monday, July 3. The Full Moon perfects at 4:38 a.m. PDT at 11:18 degrees of Capricorn. This Full Moon confronts us with balancing our goals and ambitions with our needs for close family relationships and nurturing. A Moon-Mercury opposition may strain communication. An evening Moon-Uranus trine orients us toward freedom and may deliver something surprising.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
