In the Stars August 10-17, 2025 . . . Shining LIght on the Astrology of the Week

Leo the Lion: Sun in Leo Tropically July 22-August 22
Leo the Lion: Sun in Leo Tropically July 22-August 22

The Sun shines brightly in Leo, the zodiac sign it rules for another 10 days. Leo loves to lead, laugh, and play. Enjoy the warmth of the summer Sun and some special recreational gatherings.

Mercury turns direct Monday, August 11. Computers, phones, and communication devices will become less problematic. Communications will start to clear. You can move ahead with projects and decisions that have been on hold.

Mars moved into Libra on August 6 and forms the anchor of a kite pattern for the next few days, opposing Saturn and Neptune, and making a trine to Pluto and Uranus. Ideas will soar and you can uplift your life. While Mars loves conflict, and is not at its strongest in Libra, it may serve well in negotiations.

The Moon is void of course all day Monday, August 11. When the Moon is void of course it is a time when the Moon is not forming a major Ptolemaic aspect with another planet before it moves into a new sign. The time is open and non-specific. It is a time when it is difficult to make sound decisions, as the energy indecisive. It is best to use this time for gardening, reading, cleaning, or responding to email, activities that don’t require decision making. Or take the day off and go hiking, biking, or swimming.

Eclipse season will be here again soon. There is a total Lunar Eclipse September 7 at 15 degrees Pisces, and a Solar Eclipse September 21 at 29 Virgo. Plan to keep your life simple and easy those two weeks as the energies will be intense.

This weekend, throughout the early part of next week, Mars will oppose Saturn and Uranus, and Mercury opposes Pluto. Mars and Mercury are in sextile aspect, as is Pluto to Neptune and Saturn, forming a box pattern. Mars also forms the anchor of a kite pattern. This configuration will supercharge the connections between the Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto that are all linked by benefic sextile and trine aspects. You can soar with ideas and activity. Plan ahead to make the most of this planetary pattern. What do you want to lift with the wind in your own life?

The Week Ahead; All times below in Pacific Time:

The Full Moon in Aquarius occurs Saturday, August 9, at 12:54 a.m. PDT at 16 degrees Aquarius tropically, ushering in a long period when the Moon is void of course all day. This Full Moon holds tension, as Mars opposes Saturn and Neptune. However, Jupiter is at the Star Sirius and close to Venus, so these benefic planets will offer some ease and grace. Mercury is in Leo, aspecting the outer planet alignment, and thus giving us a lot of brilliant ideas and generative conversation.

Sunday and Monday, August 10-11, the Moon is in idealistic Pisces. These are days to ignite your imagination and create. On Monday, August 11 Mercury turns direct. Communication will now move forward with fewer mistakes and entanglements.  Venus conjuncts Jupiter, and although these two planets are not the best of friends, they are both benefics and should help to light up the day.

Tuesday and Wednesday, August 12-13, the Moon is in the bold fire sign Aries. These days we are ready for adventure and trying something new. The Moon conjuncts Saturn and Neptune on Tuesday, opposes Pluto, and makes benefic aspects to Mercury and Uranus. The Moon conjuncts Saturn and Neptune on Tuesday. Much can be accomplished as your focus will be strong and exacting, yet imaginative. These days are super charged day with potential. Now, with Mercury direct you can move forward.

Thursday and Friday, August 14-15, the Moon is in pleasure-seeking Taurus. These are days to please your senses. I’m delighted that the Moon will be in Taurus while I am in Portugal, enjoying good food, wine, and music. Mercury sextiles Mars, enabling strong mental focus and productivity.

Saturday and Sunday, August 16-17, the Moon is in variety-seeking Gemini. On Saturday the Moon is conjunct Uranus, giving surprising, fresh energy for innovation. These are good days to take a short trip, connect with your siblings, and enjoy social outings with easy conversation.

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
