In the Stars August 3-10, 2025 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

The Sun shines brightly in Leo, the zodiac sign it rules. Leo loves to lead, laugh, and play, and hopefully you are enjoying the warmth of the summer Sun and some special seasonal gatherings. I’m writing from beautiful Klaipeda, Lithuania, where I came for a wedding with four days of events.
Mercury continues in retrograde motion for one more week through August 11. This period gives us an opportunity to finish undone tasks, and to review, reconsider, review, revise, and re-do. Observe how your thinking changes during the retrograde period about some things that have been in motion. Use these last days of the retrograde period to review and finish what is already in motion. Wait until after the 11th to start something new.
Mars moves into Libra on Wednesday, August 6. The red planet may stir things up. Libra desires peace and harmony, and Mars likes action and aggression.
There are two days this week when the Moon is void of course all day. The first day is Thursday, August 7, and the second is Saturday, August 9. When the Moon is void of course it is a time when the Moon is not forming a major Ptolemaic aspect with another planet before it moves into a new sign. The time is open and non-specific. It is a time when it is difficult to make sound decisions, as the energy indecisive. It is best to use this time for gardening, reading, cleaning, or responding to email, activities that require little specific energy. Or take the day off and go hiking, biking, or swimming.
August 7 through 11, Mars will oppose Saturn and Uranus and form the anchor of a kite pattern. This configuration will supercharge the connections between Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto that are all linked by benefic sextile and trine aspects. You can soar with ideas and activity. Plan ahead to make the most of this planetary pattern. What do you want to lift with the wind in your own life?
The Week Ahead; All times below in Pacific Time:
Sunday and Monday, August 3 and 4, the Moon is in Sagittarius, calling us to expand our world. Take a hike. Plan a trip far away. Explore new places and ideas. On August 3 the Moon makes numerous benefic aspects with other planets. The day garners optimism, and invites social gatherings and opportunities.
Tuesday through Thursday, August 5-7, the Moon is in industrious Capricorn. Tension abounds on Tuesday as Mars squares Saturn and Neptune. Mars enters Libra at 4:23 p.m. PDT on Wednesday.
Thursday evening (6:17 p.m. PDT) through Saturday, August 7-9, the Moon is in worldly Aquarius. The Full Moon occurs Saturday, August 9, at 12:54 a.m. PDT at 16 degrees Aquarius tropically, ushering in a long period when the Moon is void of course all day. This Full Moon holds tension, as Mars opposes Saturn and Neptune.
Sunday and Monday, August 10-11, the Moon is in idealistic Pisces. These are days to ignite your imagination and create. On Monday, August 11 Mercury turns direct. Communication will now move forward with fewer mistakes and entanglements.

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
