In the Stars August 31-September 7, 2025 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

The Sun shines in Virgo tropically. The mutable earth sign Virgo is the last sign of the season of Summer. Ruled by Mercury, Virgo forms the backdrop for the start of a new school year. We are now focused on work and study. Virgo loves to improve itself, striving for order and efficiency.
Saturn moves back into Pisces on Monday, September 1, where it be until February 13, 2026. While it is back in the mutable water sign, the last sign of the zodiac where it was over the past two years, we will re-visit emotional ties and feelings. We may reconnect with sticky feelings that can leave us feeling victimized. Consider what you want to let go of and leave behind when Saturn moves back into Aries next February.
On September 5 Uranus turns retrograde, joining Saturn, Chiron, Neptune, and Pluto in backward motion. This energy is more internalized and invites us to reconsider our paths forward.
Eclipse season is upon us with a total Lunar Eclipse September 7 at 15 degrees Pisces, and a Solar Eclipse September 21 at 29 degrees Virgo. Plan to keep your life simple and easy those two weeks as the energies will be intense. My astrologer friend Donna Stellhorn has a recording about the approaching Eclipse season and how it may affect you. It’s available now.
Pluto sextiles Saturn and Neptune; Saturn and Neptune sextile Uranus. This is a unique configuration that could result in powerful new inventions, breakthroughs, and change.

The Week Ahead:
Saturday through Monday, August 30-September 1, the Moon is in sunny Sagittarius. On Saturday the Moon forms a fire grand trine with Venus, Saturn, and Neptune. Sagittarius loves the outdoors and using the legs and thighs. Great energy for hiking or biking! Plan an outdoor adventure. Allow your imagination to soar! On Sunday Mercury trines Chiron, igniting new information. This is a good aspect for writing or planning something that calls for innovative ideas and a more holistic way of thinking. Saturn moves back into Pisces for the next five months on Monday, drawing us deep into feelings, perhaps victimized. Focus on finishing old creative projects.
Tuesday and Wednesday, September 2-3, the Moon is in industrious Capricorn. These should be productive days. On Tuesday Mercury moves into Virgo, the sign in which it is exalted. Mercury will be in Virgo until September 18, moving quickly. You can focus and get a lot accomplished the next 16 days. Mercury in Virgo would like to study, learn a new skill, write, or make detailed plans. Mercury squares Uranus on Wednesday, perhaps taking your plans in a new direction, or experiencing a breakthrough idea.
Thursday and Friday, September 4-5, the Moon is in humanitarian Aquarius. On Thursday Mars squares Jupiter, amplifying possibilities. Energy is expansive, perhaps too much so. The Moon conjuncts Pluto, stirring up strong feelings. Desires will outpace what is possible. Uranus turns retrograde on Friday, September 5, and will then be spinning backwards for five months until February 3. When planets change direction, their energy is amplified. Expect these days to be full of surprises and diversions.
Saturday through mid-day Monday, September 6-8, the Moon is in illuminating Pisces. On Sunday, September 7 there is a total lunar eclipse at 15 degrees Pisces (Sun is at 15 Virgo). If you have any planets in mutable signs (Pisces, Sagittarius, Virgo, Gemini) near 15 degrees, you may be impacted by the eclipse. Eclipses are power surges. Virgo and Pisces are the service-oriented signs, so stretch yourself and do something of service for your friends, family, or humanity, or all three.

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
