In the Stars March 2-9, 2025 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

March is a cosmically eventful month, holding a Solar and Lunar Eclipse, Mars out-of-bounds, Venus and Mercury turning retrograde, and Neptune moving into Aries.

This week the Sun is energized by a square to Jupiter on Sunday, March 2, and a trine to Mars on Friday, March 7. The Sun-Jupiter square encourages us to take on more than usual and be courageous. The Mars-Sun trine gives drive, ambition, and a burst of energy. Use these energetic planetary combinations to make a positive difference in the world.

Mars is now direct in motion, but still out-of-bounds. When a planet is out-of-bounds it expresses more erratically and aggressively, and in a more exaggerated way. The Trump/Vance-Zelensky exchange in the White House recently is an example of Mars out-of-bounds.

Venus has turned retrograde, and will be in Aries through June 7, although there will be a period March 28-May 1 in-between when it will dip back into Pisces due to retrograde motion. Venus retrograde invites us to re-assess relationships and values. Venus in Aries invites us to be more active, assertive, and spontaneous.

Mars continues to trine Saturn within a 3-degree orb nearly every day through April 18. This aspect provides focus, precision, and drive. This is excellent energy for the six weeks ahead to work diligently on a project, such as writing and editing an article or book, learning lines or music for a performance, or organizing and streamlining your work space or computer. Proceed both assertively with determination and carefulness. Aim for mastery and completion.

Mercury enters Aries on Monday, March 3, igniting more assertive, spontaneous, direct speech. Mercury will be in the cardinal fire sign until May 10, except for March 31 through April 16 when it will be retrograde back into Pisces.

Mercury will station on March 15, turning retrograde through April 6. Now, before March 15, is the time to wrap up travel plans, contracts, and any details you need to determine and communicate. It would also be good to finish your taxes in the next two weeks, as more clerical and numerical errors are made when Mercury is retrograde.

We are soon entering the first eclipse season of the year. A Total Lunar Eclipse will occur March 13 at 11:54 p.m. PDT at 23 degrees of Virgo tropically. Then on March 29 a Partial Solar Eclipse will occur at 3:57 a.m. at 9 degrees of Aries.

Neptune will enter Aries on March 30th. This a huge shift, and it will mark a significant change in our collective experience.

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
