In the Stars May 3-10, 2020...shining light on the astrology of the week: Full Moon

The Sun marches forward in Taurus which symbolizes growth, fertility, pleasure, and beauty. The garden store near where I live has re-opened, and the ecology center recently gave out victory garden kits. It is time for spring planting and new growth. Continue spring cleaning and beautifying your home. Taurus loves beauty and comfort.

We move deeper into retrograde motion in the coming week with Saturn turning retrograde on Sunday, May 10th, joining Pluto that turned retrograde on April 25th. Venus and Jupiter will soon follow, turning retrograde on May 12th and 14th respectively. Venus’ retrograde period is through June 25th. Saturn, Pluto, and Jupiter are retrograde until September (Jupiter and Saturn) and October (Pluto). With the amount of retrograde motion, it is not a time to march forward. However, during the time these planets are in retrograde it is a good time to study, learn a new skill, and to work on projects that require research, focus, or concentration.

Sunday is confusing, under the influence of a Moon-Neptune opposition. A Venus-Moon square magnifies the diffuse energy. This is not a day for clear thinking or making purchases. Reach for inspiration through music, dance, or a walk in the outdoors. Continue to attend to practical matters that need to be addressed.

With the Libra Moon as backdrop, turn your focus to art, beauty, and harmony on Monday. Libra is a cardinal, action-oriented sign, so make things happen. The Libra Moon aligns with Juno, the asteroid of partnership, and opposes Chiron, fostering greater understanding and healing of relationships. Tuesday pulses with both tension and ease. Tension brews with the square of the Libra Moon to Pluto, Jupiter, and late in the evening, Saturn. On the other hand, ease comes through a Grand Trine in air signs, lightening things up, and bringing good ideas and satisfying conversation. The Grand Trine involves the Moon in Libra, Mars in Aquarius, and Venus in Gemini. This Grand Trine heightens our desire to connect. Reach out to others by phone, Zoom, email, or snail mail.

Feelings run deep on Wednesday with the Moon in fixed water sign Scorpio. In addition, a tense and possibly explosive T-square in fixed signs may trigger us emotionally. Think about how you can channel frustration constructively. Do a deep cleaning; tackle a challenging old project that perhaps has been on the back burner; or renovate a room in your house. The Moon is approaching its fullness.

Thursday in the pre-dawn hours on the west coast, the Full Moon perfects and makes benefic sextiles to Jupiter and Pluto. Sextile aspects are opportunities. Thursday’s sextile aspects invite productivity. However, the Moon makes an edgy square to Mars, and opposes Mercury, so we may be impatient and irritable. Be sure to think before speaking, or you are likely to spark conflict and defensiveness.

There’s a spring in our step, and optimism and courage in our heart on Friday with the Moon in sunny Sagittarius trine to Chiron in Aries. Take a walk or hike outdoors. Mercury makes an exact trine with Pluto in earth signs. We are able to deeply ponder problems and make solid plans toward resolution.

We may feel confused or undecided about direction on Saturday, as Neptune makes an uncomfortable square to the Moon and Venus. Later in the day the Moon conjoins the South Node. Saturn is stationary; we may feel constricted and limited. Saturday’s energies are demanding and destabilizing.

Saturn goes retrograde on Sunday for a five-month backward trajectory until A Mercury-Mars square makes us prone to arguments. The day’s energies may feel difficult. Go slow, and channel the demands into a writing project or some other demanding project that requires written or verbal expression.

Monday is a powerful, perhaps turbulent, strong productive work day. The Moon conjuncts Pluto and Jupiter in Capricorn, and trines the Sun in Taurus. With Saturn moving retrograde yesterday, you may feel the demands of responsibility and limitation. Dedicate yourself to your work.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
