In the Stars July 14-21, 2024 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

The Sun shines in Cancer for one more week tropically, promoting themes of home, family, and tradition. This week continues to highlight time for family picnics, visits, gatherings, as well as gardening, cooking, and caring for home and property. On Monday, July 22 the Sun moves into dramatic Leo.
Mars and Uranus conjunct in Taurus on Monday. This aspect can be creative and innovative, as well as impulsive and reckless, so go carefully and mindfully.
The Capricorn Moon forms a Full Moon at the last degree of Cancer (29:08) early Sunday morning, July 21, at 3:17 a.m. PDT. This Full Moon makes benefic aspects with all of the transpersonal planets Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto making this a very potent Full Moon, Four other significant aspects perfect on Sunday, July 21: Venus-Jupiter sextile; Mercury-Uranus square; Sun-Neptune trine; and Mars-Pluto trine, giving high energy, vision, innovative thinking, and expansiveness. The end of this week is industrious and active.
Saturn and Neptune are now retrograde for the next five months until November 15 and December 7 respectively. The retrograde energy is stronger, though more interior. Use it to imagine how you will manifest your visions. This is an incubation time to imagine how you will work with the conjunction at 0 degrees of Aries of these two planets next spring 2025.
________
A benefic aspect between the Moon and Mercury early Saturday morning, July 13, opens communication channels which may help with the lingering Venus-Pluto opposition of yesterday. Yet other difficult relational aspects are in the field (Sun square Moon; Moon opposite Chiron and Eris). Do your best to steer toward the conciliatory gifts of the Libra Moon.
The Moon moves into the deep, dark emotional waters of Scorpio on Sunday, July 14, and makes testy squares with both Pluto and Venus. It may not be easy to share what is on your mind. The Scorpio Moon usually wants time alone, and this may be the best thing to do, given the vulnerability of the day’s aspects.
Mars and Uranus conjunct in Taurus. This is a clashing conjunction that can be reckless, as well as creative. Being in the sign of Taurus, impulsiveness is slowed and more measured. Use it for innovation and building. There are additional difficult aspects in the day: Sun-square-Chiron; and Moon-square-Mercury. The Moon’s trine to Saturn will help us stay measured and practical.
A Grand Trine in water signs (Sun in Cancer; Moon in Scorpio; and Neptune in Pisces) fuels Tuesday, July 16, with strong feelings. The Moon opposes Uranus and Mars, activating tensions, and perhaps generates something erratic or unexpected. The Moon’s ingress into light-hearted Sagittarius at 6:24 p.m. PDT is uplifting, and the day ends on a high note.
A cantankerous Sun-square-Eris aspect on Wednesday, July 17, will be calmed by a Moon-Venus trine in upbeat fire signs Sagittarius and Leo respectively. Jupiter in Gemini opposes the Sun in the afternoon, expanding thoughts and conversation.
Thursday, July 18, is a day for travel and adventure (perfect for my trip from Bergen, Norway to Oslo). Mercury and Chiron are conjunct, and can foster maverick ways of thinking and communicating. The buoyant Sagittarius Moon makes a benefic trine to Mercury and Chiron, firing up curiosity. Expand and explore!
The Capricorn Moon helps us finish the week’s work strong on Friday, July 19. Mars enters Gemini on Saturday, July 20, where it will draw us toward a variety of activities during its stay in the sign of the Twins through September 4. The serious, responsible Capricorn Moon is stirred up by the Moon’s square to Chiron and Eris. The Moon is also trine to Uranus, perhaps resulting in something unexpected.
The industrious energy of the Capricorn Moon continues through Sunday morning, July 21, when it forms a Full Moon at the last degree of Cancer (29:08). Sunday’s cosmic energy is extremely active. The Full Moon makes benefic aspects with all of the transpersonal planets: trine to Uranus (and Mars), conjunction with Pluto, and sextile to Neptune. In addition, four other significant aspects perfect: Venus-Jupiter sextile; Mercury-Uranus square; Sun-Neptune trine; and Mars-Pluto tine. There is high energy, vision, innovative thinking, and expansion in these aspects. Make the most of this energetic day full of potential. The Moon moves into Aquarius at 4:42 a.m. PDT, inviting us to engage with groups of friends and new cultural experiences.
The Sun moves into Leo on Monday, July 22. It will be a dramatic entry as the Sun opposes Pluto. The Aquarius Moon is trine to Jupiter, giving a boost of confidence. However, the Moon’s square to Uranus just after midnight Tuesday (PDT) may shake things up Monday evening.
The Week in Short:
Saturday: While channels of communication may open, the pathway may be rocky and full of challenges. Be conciliatory.
Sunday: Difficult day emotionally. Spend some time alone.
Monday: Challenging, reckless energies can be used for innovation. Stay steady as you navigate difficult aspects.

Wednesday: Planetary weather is stormy, but then upbeat and generous.
Thursday: Day for exploration, curiosity, and expansion. Good day for travel.
Friday: Finish the work week strong.
Saturday: Strong, industrious day, perhaps with something unexpected toward evening.
Sunday: Full Moon. Active day full of potential and possibilities.
Monday: Sun moves into Leo. Exuberant day with twists and turns.

Moon Void of Course:
This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
