In the Stars June 9-16, 2024 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week
The Sun continues to shine in Gemini, highlighting travel, communication, curiosity, and learning. Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter are also in the mutable air sign (Gemini), symbolizing conversation and friendliness.
Mars enters Taurus on Saturday, June 8, and moves into a square aspect with Pluto June 8-12. The is a hot, aggressive, determined energy that can be used powerfully to move forward with projects, but will need to be tempered if it is overheated and becomes volatile. We are prone to conflict and struggles during this time. Exercise calm and reasonableness during this time period if you are activated.

The restraint of the Venus-Saturn square continues to influence Saturday, June 8, but this aspect can focus us on tasks that need to be addressed, particularly those on the home front. Mars completes its trip through its ruling sign Aries and moves into Taurus for the next six weeks until July 20. Mars in Taurus engenders more determination and persistence, as well as a stubborn resistance to change, and getting things accomplished.
While anchored in concerns about the well-being of home and family, Sunday, June 9, holds numerous testy, volatile aspects (Sun square Saturn; Moon square Mars; Moon opposite Pluto). An explosive Mars-Pluto square is tightening, perfecting in two days. On the other hand, the difficult energies will be tempered by the communication skills of Mercury’s sextile to the North Node, a Moon-Neptune trine, and a Moon-Jupiter sextile. The Moon moves into buoyant Leo at 12:29 p.m. PDT, ending the day on a cheerful, optimistic note.
The Mars-Pluto square heats up Monday, June 10, with a fury of aggressive energy. A Moon-Mercury benefic sextile will help us manage the volatility with mental acumen and sensibility. Keep your cool, and stay mentally balanced.
Tuesday, June 11, dawns with the perfection of the hot Mars-Pluto square in fixed signs, which could incite power struggles and conflict. This difficult energy might be tempered somewhat by the Leo Moon’s sextiles to the Gemini Sun and Venus, and its trine to Chiron. However, the Moon’s square to Uranus may bring chaos and disruption to the day.
Mercury squares Saturn on Wednesday, June 12, giving mental focus and discernment, and perhaps strained communication. The Moon is in Virgo, signaling the time of the month to get your life in order. The Moon squares Jupiter, making us overly optimistic about what we can accomplish. The Sun’s benefic sextile to Chiron benefits human relations.
Thursday, June 13, is an industrious day. Take risks in relationships and creative projects as a result of a Venus-Eris sextile. The Mercury-Chiron sextile can inspire helpful conversations. Saturn opposes the Virgo Moon, reminding us of our duties and responsibilities. A Moon-Uranus trine late in the day may stir up something different than expected, or help us break out of a rut.
Friday, June 14, is a day for strong expression of mental faculties such as reading and writing. The Virgo Moon opposes Neptune, making completing tasks somewhat elusive. The Moon moves into more social Libra at 11:12 a.m. PDT, and makes a Grand trine with Pluto and Jupiter, giving confidence and optimism. This would be a great evening for a party. Enjoy the company of others.
Saturday, June 15, is another social day with the Sun in gregarious Gemini and the Moon in Libra. Engage with friends in lively conversations.
Sunday, June 16, has some difficult aspects that may make relationships rocky. However, the Moon trines the Sun and Mercury to balance the energy and restore harmony. Venus moves into Cancer and the Moon moves into Scorpio late in the evening, adding passion and sweetness, and a Moon-Venus trine settles the energy with warmth and affection.
Mercury, the trickster planet symbolizing the mind, plays a big role on Monday, June 17, as it squares Neptune and conjuncts Venus at the last (called anaretic) degrees of Gemini (Mercury and Venus) and Pisces (Neptune), and then Mercury and Venus move on into the first degree of Cancer. Emotions strongly influence our thinking, and we may be prone to some distortions of reality. A second major aspect complex of the day, a potent, explosive one, is that the Scorpio Moon squares Pluto and opposes Mars. Conversations will be intense and perhaps, significant and revelatory.

Saturday: Focus on tasks that need to be done around home. Clean up your home and garden and make them more beautiful.

Moon Void of Course:
This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
