In the Stars September 1-8, 2024 . . . Shining Light on the astrology of the week
The Sun is now in practical, industrious Virgo until September 22, inviting us to make our lives cleaner, more organized, and efficient. It is time to separate the wheat from the chaff, both seasonally and metaphorically.
Mercury turned direct on August 28. You can now move forward with contracts and communication and activities requiring written communication. However, Mercury will be in its shadow until September 12, meaning that some of the effects of Mercury retrograde such as miscommunication may still be at play through this period.
Uranus stations Saturday and Sunday, September 1-2, to turn retrograde for the next five months. Uranus will join Saturn, Chiron, Neptune, and Pluto. Pluto backs into Capricorn on September 1, too, for its last dip back into the sign of business, structure, laws, and the old order. It will be in Capricorn through election season until November 19 when it will move into Aquarius for the long haul (until 2044).
The next eclipse season is near, with a partial Lunar Eclipse September 17, and an annular Solar Eclipse on October 2.
______
Saturday, August 31, is a playful day for celebration, an easy day with few aspects. However, Uranus stations Saturday and Sunday, perhaps creating some disruptions and changes. This an excellent day for a party.
Closing out the weekend, the creative Leo Moon continues to shine its light on Sunday, September 1, until 8:48 p.m. when the Moon goes into Virgo. As noted yesterday, Uranus is stationary retrograde, so the day may go other than planned. Retrograde Pluto goes back into Capricorn, making its final debut in this earth sign until November 19, when it arrives in Aquarius again going forward. These shifts may have a stalling influence on world affairs for a while.
Monday, September 2, holds a New Moon in Virgo, inviting us to get our lives in order. Set goals for the month ahead around the Virgo themes of cleaning, organizing, and self-improvement. The Moon-Jupiter square may contribute to a feeling of overextension or over-optimism.
Tuesday, September 3, is another day for clean-up and attending to the tasks on your list that need to be done. Saturn opposes the Moon, drawing us toward our responsibilities. This will be an industrious work day when much can be accomplished.
Mars ingresses into Cancer on Wednesday, September 4, where it is in its fall, or not so strong. However, it can energize those with water sign Suns or Moons. The Moon is in Libra, framing the day for social connections and attention on relationships.
Thursday, September 5, is a sweet day for relationships. Venus and Juno conjunct in Libra where the Moon resides as well. Mercury squares Uranus for the next two days, enabling us to think out of the box and solve problems in new ways.
As the Libra Moon advances into the late degrees of this cardinal air sign on Friday, September 6, it ignites numerous energies through its aspects: The Moon squares Pluto, sextiles Mercury, and forms a yod with Neptune and Uranus. These aspects will make for an active day. Relationship issues will be a major theme, and determination and vision will be strong qualities at play.
Saturday and Sunday, September 7 and 8, the Moon passes through the deep waters of Scorpio. Passions are stirred, and we may want to take some solitary time for ourselves. The Sun opposes Saturn, perfecting exactly on Sunday. As a result, we will be reminded of duties, responsibilities, and limitations, and may feel thwarted in our efforts.
The Moon bounces into sunny Sagittarius on Monday, September 9, at 10:25 a.m. PDT. Then the Moon makes a benefic sextile to Pluto, empowering the day, the start of the work week. The Moon also squares Mercury, both opening our minds and perhaps scattering our thoughts.

Moon Void of Course:
This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.Void-of-Course Moon times for the month ahead (one lunar cycle):Pacific Standard Time:
