In the Stars August 20-27, 2023 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

The Sun ingresses into Virgo on August 23rd, highlighting themes of self-improvement, efficiency, order, and attention to health.

Mercury and Uranus turn retrograde on the 23rd and 28th respectively, joining the other five planets now retrograde: Venus, Chiron, Saturn, Pluto, and Neptune. All this retrograde energy invites an interior, reflective, intuitive focus. Mercury’s three-week retrograde period is a time for review and revision, but not for moving things forward.

Pluto is squaring the nodal axis which has just shifted into Aries/Libra. The North Node aligns with Eris, adding bold, dynamic energy into this T-square. This Pluto-Eris-Nodal Axis alignment invites us to let go of clutter, patterns, or relationships that no longer serve us. We are called to a higher vibration that results from cleaning things up or giving things up. Venus is in Leo for a long period (June 5-Octoer 8, 2023), and retrograde until September 3.

___________

On Sunday, August 20th, the Libra Moon opposes both Ceres and Chiron, creating some stormy weather with others near and dear. However, a Moon-Venus sextile is calming, and gives playfulness and levity to the day.

Monday, August 21 is turbulent, starting with a Moon-Eris opposition, followed by a Moon-Pluto square. The Moon ingresses into Scorpio at 4:22 p.m. PDT, drawing us inward Monday evening.

We are sidetracked by numerous diversions on Tuesday, as a result of a Venus-Jupiter square. We may feel like taking the day off. Mars opposes Neptune, adding to the lack of motivation. We may feel disappointed or disillusioned, or simply lack the energy to work on a project. The Scorpio Moon connects with the Venus-Jupiter square, igniting passionate instincts.

The Sun ingresses into Virgo on Wednesday, August 23, igniting our work ethic. The new school year is starting. The Scorpio Moon opposes Uranus, adding independent, rebellious energy to the day. Mercury turns retrograde at 12:59 p.m. PDT, bringing projects and negotiations to a standstill. The next 23 days with Mercury retrograde is a time for review, reconsidering, and revising, In the evening the Moon makes benefic aspects to Neptune, Mars, and Pluto. We desire close encounters with loved ones.

Thursday’s big aspect is Mars-trine-Pluto. This gives us the capacity to streamline, eliminating things that no longer work so well. The Mars-Pluto trine also gives powerful focus. The Moon shines freely in Sagittarius, putting the squeeze on the day’s responsibilities dues to a Moon-Sun-Saturn T-square.

The Sagittarius Moon makes a carefree trine with Venus on Friday, August 25th. However, relationships may be tested due to some discordant aspects. Allow your high spirit to navigate any frustrations in this Friday.

The weekend is set for work and accomplishment with the Moon in Capricorn Saturday and Sunday. The Sun is opposite Saturn, reminding us of our responsibilities. We can easily fall prey to frustration and self-criticism, so keep doing your best and praise your efforts.

A Moon-Jupiter trine on Sunday, August 27, lifts our spirits. The Capricorn Moon trines Mercury and Uranus, restoring confidence and giving brilliance. Mars ingresses into Libra.

A Moon-Pluto conjunction early Monday morning powers up the day. The Moon moves into Aquarius at 7:31 a.m. PDT, highlighting a time for friendships and group activities. Uranus is stationary, turning retrograde, so the weird energy of this outer planet is strong. Uranus will be retrograde for the next five months until January 27th. Expect the unexpected on Monday.

The Week in Short:

Sunday: Emotionally stormy day, yet playfulness and pleasure make the day enjoyable.

Monday: Turbulent day. Employ the difficult energy to get things accomplished.

Tuesday: Easily sidetracked, we may want to take some time off and wander freely.

Wednesday: Sun moves into Virgo. Mercury turns retrograde. Be patient with confusing communication.

Friday: High-spirited day, though some discordant energy may test relationships.

Saturday: Strong work day. Much can be accomplished.

Sunday: Another strong work day, infused with confidence and brilliance.

Monday: Powerful day. Uranus turns retrograde, so expect the day to bring some unusual surprises. Group activities highlighted.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
