The Sun enters Capricorn Sunday, December 21, at 7:02 a.m. PST, ushering in the season of winter. The December 19 New Moon in Sagittarius invited us to set goals for the month ahead, particularly with themes of adventure, travel, learning, and widening our perspectives. Venus, Mercury, and Juno in Sagittarius will carry us through the next few days of the season with euphoria and zest for social engagement. On Christmas Eve, December 24, Venus moves into Capricorn and joins the Sun and Mars. The last week of December we will want to get down to business and handle our responsibilities as we close out 2025.
Mars will be in cardinal earth Capricorn, where it is exalted, until January 23. This placement supports career moves and executive functioning during this time.
Mars is out of bounds (OOB), with Venus also moving OOB December 22. A planet is out of bounds when its declination is greater than 23:26 degrees south or north of the ecliptic. Mercury joins them OOB December 29. This is a lot of OOB activity the next two weeks. When planets are OOB their activity is more unruly, erratic, and free. Mars OOB likely influenced a lot of the violence recently (e.g., the Brown University and Australian Bondi Beach shootings). Using the OOB energy positively, we could do a lot of out-of-the box creative thinking at this time, try new things, and do things differently.

The Week Ahead:
Saturday and Sunday, December 20-21, the Moon is in Capricorn. The Sun and Venus square Saturn and Neptune. You could feel overwhelmed now with how much there is to do between now and Christmas. You may feel challenged by the limits of your resources to do all you want to do regarding holiday shopping or preparations. These days call for focus and awareness. Consider what is reasonable and possible. At the same time, these are the last days with the Sun in Sagittarius, so enjoy the weekend’s holiday gatherings and offerings.
Monday through Wednesday evening, December 22-24, the Moon is in Aquarius. The Moon conjuncts Pluto on December 22, giving emotional intensity. Venus enters Capricorn December 24, where it will be until January 18, bringing a more restrained and practical energy to our desires. Venus and Juno are conjunct, square Saturn and Neptune. We may feel conflicted by our ideals versus what we can actually accomplish. Honor your limits.
Wednesday evening through Friday, December 24-26, the Moon is in Pisces. Christmas Day, December 25, is blessed by easy aspects. The Pisces Moon sextiles Venus, the Sun, and Mars, giving opportunities. Shower love, compassion, and kindness on all with whom you associate these days. Say “yes” to opportunities. On the 26th the Moon conjuncts Saturn and Neptune, and we will feel restrained, reminded of obligations.
Saturday and Sunday, December 27-28, the Moon is in Aries. With three planets in cardinal Capricorn, and the Moon in cardinal fire sign Aries, it is time to get moving physically, as well as with all the tasks there are to do. The Moon conjuncts Chiron on Sunday, December 28, inviting attention on healing.

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
