In the Stars February 11-18 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week
The Sun, Pluto and Mercury are now in Aquarius. Mars and Venus join the Aquarius party this week on February 12 and 16 respectively. Aquarius is all about social justice, independence, and innovation. This is a great time to consciously bring more diversity in your life. Reach out to friends of different races and cultures. Visit an ethnic restaurant and soak up a culture different from your usual experiences. Write a check to support a humanitarian cause. Be innovative in your daily endeavors.
Mars conjuncts Pluto this week, exact on Tuesday. This combination gives powerful drive, and can be explosive—for better or worse. The great potential in it is to be explosive and inventive in a productive way. However, we may see destructive, aggressive events in the world news.
With the February 9th New Moon, we are now in the Year of the Wood Dragon, making for tremendous creative opportunities over the year ahead. The Chinese Dragon represents authority, prosperity, and good fortune. The Wood Dragon year combines qualities of the dragon such as leadership, strength, and courage with qualities of the wood element such as flexibility, generosity, and growth. The Wood Dragon invites us to be adventurous and optimistic, and to make a positive impact on the world.
In addition to the Wood Dragon year, the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction is tightening. This week these planets are about 10 degrees apart, moving toward an exact conjunction April 17-21. This aspect occurs once every 13 years and is powerfully innovative and expansive. If you are thinking about a project now would be a great time to start. Be expansive in your imagination about what is possible, as this year holds great breakthrough, inventive potential.
_______
Sunday, February 11, is an imaginative day. We desire a taste of something different (Moon sextile Uranus). The Super Bowl is on the schedule for the day! The closing Mars-Pluto conjunction will give strong drive to the players and fans. The Pisces Moon will inspire us, symbolized by the glamour of Taylor Swift’s presence, and perhaps a half-time show taken to new heights. The evening invites pampering such as a hot bath and relaxing with an inspiring book, or watching a movie before sleep and dreamtime.
Monday, February 12, is bold and dynamic, and we are off to a strong start with our work week, punctuated by a Moon-Pluto sextile early in the day. Mars moves into Aquarius where it will be through March 22, calling us to stand up for social justice and humanitarian causes about which we care.
Independence and self-determination are themes on Tuesday, February 13. Mars conjuncts Pluto, giving strong drive and will. Be aware not to be too overpowering or impatient. Venus makes a benefic sextile to Neptune, softening the fiery edge of the Mars-Pluto aspect. The Moon also conjuncts Chiron and Eris, highlighting others’ needs as well as our own. This is a strident, extrememely productive day when a great deal can be imagined and achieved.
The Moon is in its exaltation, the sign of Taurus on Wednesday and Thursday, February 14 and 15. However, Wednesday morning the Moon squares Mars and Pluto, stirring up edgy emotions and aggression. Wisely employ this energy to work on a challenging project. A Moon-Saturn sextile later in the day brings restraint and greater calm. The Moon-Jupiter conjunction’s optimism and buoyancy lifts our spirits at the end of the day.
Thursday is a productive day with the Moon in practical Taurus. Mercury makes aspects to Chiron, the Moon, and the North Node, encouraging communication about matters of significance. Later in the day the Moon conjuncts Uranus, bringing a surprising twist to the day, or changes in our plans.
The Moon is void of course Friday morning from 7:00 a.m.-11:39 a.m. PST, a time best used for routine, insignificant tasks as sound decisions are difficult to make, and meetings often do not come together. Still, it can be a productive morning with the Moon in practical, grounded Taurus. At 11:39 a.m. PST the Moon moves into gregarious Gemini, inviting a social evening with friends. Venus moves into Aquarius, joining four other planets. Mercury squares Uranus, opening our minds to innovative ideas.
Connections deepen on Saturday, February 17, as Venus conjuncts Pluto, a passionate combination. However, the Moon squares Saturn, giving some emotional angst and restraint. Tend to your responsibilities, and then take a short trip to explore something new.
The Moon trines Mercury and squares Neptune, making Sunday, February 18 a good day for writing or reading. The Sun ingresses into Pisces at 8:13 p.m. PST.
Monday, February 19, holds the caring, home-oriented energy of the Cancer Moon. A Moon-Saturn trine Monday morning gives common sense and industriousness. Chiron conjoins the North Node, symbolizing a focus on higher purpose and holistic living. The day is sprinkled with inspiration thanks to a Moon-Jupiter sextile.

Moon Void of Course:
This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
