In the Stars July 27-August 4, 2025 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

The Sun shines brightly in Leo, the zodiac sign it rules. It is time for a vacation, or at least to take it easy and bask in the rays of the Sun. Leo loves to lead, laugh, and play. Be bold and courageous during the next month, taking in the Sun's glowing energy.
Mercury continues in retrograde motion through August 11. This period gives us an opportunity to finish undone tasks, and to review, reconsider, revise, and re-do. Observe how your thinking changes during the retrograde period about some things that have been in motion. Review and finish what is already in motion. Wait until after Mercury turns direct to start something new.
Venus moves into Cancer on Thursday, July 31, drawing us into feelings, nostalgia, and connection with family. Mars continues in Virgo through August 6, promoting self-discipline, getting detailed tasks completed, and building a strong exercise routine.
In July and August, Uranus trines Pluto in Aquarius, supercharging the themes of Uranus in Gemini. Saturn and Neptune will be in Aries at the midpoint between Uranus and Pluto in sextile aspect. This will be a potent combination for ideas, innovations, and information. August 7 through 11, Mars will oppose Saturn and Uranus and form the anchor of the kite pattern. This configuration will supercharge the connections between the outer planets. You can soar with ideas and activity. Plan ahead to make the most of this planetary pattern. What do you want to lift with the wind in your own life?
The Week Ahead; All times below in Pacific Time:
Saturday afternoon through Monday morning, July 26-28, the Moon is in Virgo. Time to clean up and put your life in order. Expect something surprising on Saturday as the Moon squares Uranus. Plans may not go as expected. These are days to take advantage of the grounded, practical energy available. The task orientation comes at a great time for me, as I will be preparing for a three-week trip to Europe, leaving on Monday, the 28th. Sunday the 27th the Moon sextiles Jupiter in Cancer, a nice aspect for connecting with family, and for enjoying the beauty of your home.
Monday through Wednesday, July 28-30, the Moon is in Libra, drawing us into a more gracious, social expression. These are good days to go to a concert with your beloved, or visit and art museum with a close friend. Tuesday, July 29, the Moon becomes the anchor of the kite pattern of outer planets described above. Give something in your life a lift, and ponder how you will use this several-day pattern of August 7-10. On Wednesday, July 30, the Moon is void of course all day. This is not a good day for meetings or anything that calls for decision making. It would be better to catch up on reading or gardening, watch a movie, or take a leisurely walk with a friend. I’ll be in Berlin visiting friends and family.
Thursday through Saturday, July 31-August 2, the Moon is in Scorpio, calling us to the underworld. The Scorpio Moon invites us to withdraw from the hustle-bustle of the world and take some time and space for ourselves. It is also a good time to dive deep into a focused project that calls for research or figuring out something puzzling. Passions are stirred. Indulge a little. On Thursday, July 31, Mercury is conjunct the Sun, called a Cazimi. The heat of the Sun charges Mercury with energy. You will want to express your strong ideas. Your mind will be sharp, and you can solve problems brilliantly.
Sunday and Monday, August 3 and 4, the Moon is in Sagittarius, calling us out of the cave to expand our world. Take a hike. Plan a trip far away. Explore new places and ideas. I will be discovering Lithuania, and attending a wedding in Klaipeda on Monday.

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
