In the Stars May 10-17, 2026 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

Happy Mother's Day! The Sun shines in Taurus tropically until May 20. Taurus is ruled by Venus, drawing us toward material matters, love, sensuality, and security. Nourish and grow your garden, finances, and projects.

The week ahead has some expansive, benefic energy with the Sun and Mercury forming opportune sextiles to the big planet Jupiter. On Saturday, May 16, a New Moon forms at 25 degrees of Taurus.

Pluto turned retrograde on Wednesday, May 6, for a five-month backward spin until October 15. This retrograde broke the forward motion that we had experienced for the previous six weeks with all planets direct. Pluto retrograde periods are good for shedding what we no longer need.

Uranus has just moved into Gemini for a seven-year stay in the mutable air sign. Various innovative methods of communication will be discovered and amplified. Be adventurous; plan short trips; learn something new; and be conversant with those around you.

This Week:

Saturday, May 9, the Moon is in Aquarius, highlighting community connection. The Moon makes numerous aspects: The Moon sextiles Mars, energizing compassion for humanity. The Moon trines Venus, facilitating ease in love and friendships. The Moon forms a waning last quarter square to the Moon, signaling a time to finish this month’s goals. Finally, the Moon inconjuncts Jupiter, expanding opportunity and stretching us to do all we can do, even if uncomfortable.

Sunday through Tuesday, May 10-12, the Moon is in Pisces. These days invite us to unleash our creativity. Make time to draw, paint, write poetry, or play music. Let your imagination soar. On Sunday the Sun sextiles Jupiter, shining light on expansive possibilities and filling us with courage and optimism. On Monday Mercury sextiles Jupiter, filling our minds with good ideas.

Wednesday and Thursday, May 13-14, the Moon is in Aries. Get moving! It’s a new lunar month! The Moon conjuncts Saturn, reminding us of responsibilities and limitations, and to think twice before we leap ahead. The Sun, Ceres, and Mercury conjunct at 24 Taurus. This is a good day to take practical steps and set plans in motion.

Friday and Saturday, May 15-16, the Moon is in Taurus. A New Moon forms on Saturday, May 16, at 25 degrees of Taurus. This is a good day to set goals for the new lunar month ahead regarding financial and other practical matters. Taurus loves to please the senses, so indulge yourself in a concert, a yummy home-cooked meal, or a dinner out at a fine restaurant. Venus sextiles Mars all weekend, re-charging your love life and creative endeavors.

Sunday and Monday, May 17-18, the Moon is in Gemini. It is time to turn up the heat on your social life, take a short trip, and call your siblings. On Monday our idealism is amplified. Allow yourself to feel excited about summer opportunities, and be conversant with others.

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
