In the Stars May 14-21 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

The week ahead is a dynamic, tense, action-oriented one due to a Grand Cross pattern that is forming with Mars opposite Pluto, and those two planets square to Jupiter and the nodal axis. Mars opposite Pluto is fiery and assertive. Jupiter exaggerates the energy through its square to Mars and Pluto. This pattern is aggressive, and may be challenging personally. The Grand Cross can also be employed to get a lot accomplished. A strong, energetic exercise routine would be one way to use this extraordinary energy. Mars ingresses into Leo for the next two months where it will be dramatic, playful, and creative.
The Sun continues to shine in Taurus tropically until May 21. The week ahead still highlights stability, financial security, and pleasure of all kinds such as good food, uplifting music, arousing smells, and beauty. Make the most of it.
Mercury turns direct on Sunday, May 14th, though its shadow period lasts until May 31st. Communication will start to clear, though there still may be a few issues such as mix-ups and mistakes through the end of the month.

Sunday’s benefic sextiles of the Pisces Moon to Uranus and the Sun add a twist to the day and heighten intuition. The Moon’s trine to the Sun stirs creative expression. Mercury turns direct, and while communication will start to clear, this day of the station when it is turning direction may bring confusion and mistakes, so be patient.
Leaving behind a soft and slow weekend, we are set to get moving as the work week begins Monday and the Moon bounces into active, fiery Aries. The Moon sextiles Pluto, increasing energy for action. Mars trines Neptune, supporting a leap of faith.
Tuesday’s news is that the largest planet, Jupiter, ingresses into Taurus where it will be through May 24th, 2024. Jupiter is square Pluto the next three days, creating some tension and power struggles, in particular over resources. The Moon conjuncts Chiron and Eris, focusing the need for self-healing in the midst of the discord generated.
Wednesday, May 17th marks the beginning of a tense, volatile period which holds through May 24th. In this period Mars, Jupiter, and Pluto form a T-square, and the nodal axis intersects it with the South Node forming the fourth point in a Grand Cross. On Wednesday Jupiter and Pluto square exactly. This configuration contains passion, expansion, exuberance, and aggression. The Moon and Mercury sextile Saturn, slowing reactions and offering measured, considered, careful responses. All the energies together on this day and for the next week give powerful energy for happenings.
The powerful energy continues Thursday. A Moon-Uranus conjunction may bring something sudden and shocking, or at least will push us out of routine. A benefic Sun-Neptune sextile will offer ease, compassion, and vision. The day carries some contradictions.
The Sun and Moon align in a New Moon on Friday at the end of Taurus, 28:25 degrees. This conjunction invites new intentions regarding personal resources and what you want to grow. A Moon-Pluto trine boosts productivity. The Moon moves into Gemini mid-day. Make it a light, social evening. A Moon-Saturn square will help us curtail any tendency to overindulge, and will encourage us to get to bed at a reasonable time.
Mars enters Leo on Saturday, beginning a two-month journey through July 10. This ingress ignites the Mars-Pluto opposition which could be aggressive, controlling, or dramatic, certain to be intense and dynamic. This aspect will play out over the next week, exaggerated by squares to Jupiter and the nodes. Use this powerful energy to get a lot accomplished in the next few days, and exercise vigorously.
The Sun enters Gemini tropically on Sunday, ushering in a month of curiosity, connection, and community. The Sun’s trine to Pluto, coupled with the Grand Cross at play, makes for another powerful day. The Sun-Mars sextile encourages creative ideas and generative conversations.
The Mars-Jupiter square perfects on Monday, part of the tense Grand Cross with Pluto and the nodal axis. The Moon is in Cancer, calling attention to home and family matters. A Moon-Saturn trine offers practicality and responsibility in dealing with the day’s challenges. However, the magnitude of the demands of the Grand Cross are enormous. Buckle up. Give this day your best, and go slowly and consciously.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
