In the Stars May 3-10, 2026 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week

The Sun is in the Sign of Taurus, the Bull
The Sun is in the Sign of Taurus, the Bull

The Sun is now in Taurus tropically until May 20. Taurus is ruled by Venus, drawing us toward love, sensuality, security, and practical matters. Now is the time to plant flowers and vegetables, to seed projects, and to tend and grow our finances. Attention is on material matters.

Pluto turns retrograde on Wednesday, May 6, for a five-month backward spin until October 15. This is the first retrograde to break the forward motion we have had for the past six weeks with all planets direct. Pluto stations at 5:30 degrees Aquarius and will move back to 3:04 degrees Aquarius when it turns direct again, so if you have any fixed sign personal planets or angles in these early degrees of fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius), you will be called to make changes. Pluto retrograde periods are good for shedding what we no longer need.

Uranus has just moved into Gemini for a seven-year stay in the mutable air sign. Various innovative methods of communication will be discovered and amplified. The next two years especially, with Pluto in Aquarius making a trine to Uranus in Gemini, will result in numerous inventions. Big social problems could be solved with sudden, creative ideas.

This Week:

Saturday, May 2, the Moon is in Scorpio. We glow in the light of the Full Moon in Scorpio, with feelings running deep. Saturday evening Mercury enters Taurus where it will focus our attention on practical, sensual matters through May 16. Since Mercury loves to read and experiment, and Taurus loves to please the senses, including good food, this combination invites us to check out a new cookbook from the library and stretch yourself to try some new dishes, or take a cooking class. Or make a playlist of your favorite music.

Sunday through Tuesday midday, May 3-5, the Moon is in Sagittarius. Mercury enters Taurus on May 3. The Sagittarius Moon puts a bounce in your step and enthusiastically, you are ready for adventure. A lot can be accomplished on Monday, May 4.  Mars squares Jupiter on Monday and Tuesday, making for industrious days for tackling demanding projects.

Tuesday midday through Thursday, May 5-7, the Moon is in Capricorn. The Mars-Jupiter square, coupled with the Capricorn Moon, makes for super productivity. Use this energy wisely to advance your aims. You could solve problems with deep thinking and concentration with the Mercury-Pluto square. Pluto turns retrograde Wednesday, May 6 and it will spin in reverse until October 15. This ends the six-week period when all planets have been direct in motion. When planets change direction, their symbolic energy is amplified. Thus, there may be power plays and significant destructive or transformative events.

Friday and Saturday, May 8-9, the Moon is in Aquarius. These days highlight friendship and connecting with community. On Friday the Moon conjuncts Pluto and Juno. Juno is an asteroid symbolizing partnership. It would be a day to go deeper in partnership with your beloved, or perhaps to fall in love, or at least to connect strongly with others. On Saturday the Moon sextiles Mars, energizing our compassion for humanity.

Sunday through Tuesday, May 10-12, the Moon is in Pisces. These are days to unleash our creativity. Make time to draw, paint, write poetry, or play music. Let your imagination soar. On Monday the Moon sextiles Mercury, tapping into an outpouring flow of inspiring ideas.

Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
