In the Stars April 26 - May 3, 2020...shining light on the astrology of the week

Spring is here as the Sun marches forward in Taurus which symbolizes growth, fertility, pleasure, and beauty. Prepare the garden for planting. It is time for spring cleaning and beautifying your home, especially next weekend with the Moon in Virgo.

There is a lot of uncertainty in not knowing when things will return to somewhat normal. There is not likely to be much change this month, with four planets turning retrograde. Pluto turned retrograde on Saturday, April 25th and it will travel backwards until October 4th. Saturn turns retrograde next week on May 10 through September 28th. Venus turns retrograde on May 12 through June 25th. Jupiter turns retrograde May 14th through September 12th. With Pluto and Saturn retrograde, our fears can be amplified, so we must work with our thoughts to abate fear. During the time these planets are in retrograde it is a good time to study, learn a new skill, and to work on a project that requires research, focus, or concentration.

Sunday may be full of surprises, framed by the Sun-Uranus conjunction. The Moon makes both benefic and challenging aspects. Exercise right speech. Reach out and connect. Make it a playful day.

Mercury moves from Aries to Taurus tropically where it will reside for the next three weeks, giving our thinking process a slower, more methodical, focused energy. Unlike when Mercury was in Aries, we will deliberate before we speak, and we will be more thoughtful. The Moon moves into Cancer, and we turn toward home and family, compassion and caring. The Cancer Moon draws us to the kitchen to cook some comfort food.

Discernment, caution, and focus are themes on Tuesday with Mercury squaring Cancer. A benefic Sun-Moon sextile enables us to center ourselves in our emotional field and rest up for Wednesday’s challenges.

Be ready for an emotionally challenging day as the Cancer Moon meets the strong oppositional energy of Pluto, Jupiter, and Saturn respectively throughout the day. The Moon is void of course at 12:29 p.m. PDT until it moves into Leo at 6:06 p.m. PDT. While the Moon is void, and especially given the day’s aspects, take it easy, attending to routine tasks. This is not a day to push forward, as it will likely be met with opposition. Relax in the evening into something playful and creative and soothe any wounds from a rough day.

Thursday may be full of surprises as Uranus is the archetypal energy of the day! Uranus squares the Leo Moon, and conjuncts Mercury. We may get brilliant new ideas. We may experience reversals. Uranus can be surprising and electrifying. Certainly this is an energized day. Expect the unexpected.

The Moon is void of course all day Friday, May 1st, May Day. As we continue to shelter-in-place, make it an easy Friday. Take time out for yourself. Paint a picture, play some music, or play a game with your housemate(s). Make the most of this playful, easy day.

Roll up your sleeves and get to work putting your life in order on Saturday. Earth to Earth: The Virgo Moon makes benefic trines to three planet helpers in Taurus: Uranus, Mercury, and Sun.

Sunday is under the influence of a Moon-Neptune opposition that can be confusing. A Venus-Moon square magnifies the confusing energy. This is not a day for clear thinking or making purchases. Reach for inspiration through music, dance, or a walk in the outdoors. Continue to attend to practical matters that need to be addressed.

Attend to the unfinished tasks from the weekend with the Moon void of course Monday morning until 12:09 a.m. PDT when the Moon moves into copasetic Libra. With the Libra Moon as backdrop, turn your focus to art, beauty, and harmony.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
