In the Stars April 3-10, 2022...shining light on the astrology of the week

The Sun is in Aries, a cardinal, action-oriented fire sign. Aries energy is quick, initiating, and independent. Aries is like a newly ignited fire burning brightly. The month of Aries invites initiations and new beginnings, courage, and leadership.

The New Moon in Aries perfected on Thursday, March 31 at 11:24 p.m. PDT or Friday, April 1 at 6:24 a.m. GMT, encouraging bold, fresh starts. Mars and Saturn conjunct on Monday, April 4, giving us patience, focus, and courage to make progress.

Jupiter is moving to conjunct with Neptune exactly on April 12th. This is a peaceful, idealistic, inspiring combination that will influence the month of April. This Jupiter-Neptune conjunction invites us to let our imagination soar and dream new possibilities. The week ahead invites fresh starts.

Uranus conjuncts the Taurus Moon on Sunday, changing our routine, and perhaps dropping a surprise into this day of rest. The Moon delights in Taurus; the day offers sensual pleasures. Take a hike in a new place. Manage practical matters and tasks at hand with ease and enjoyment.

A Mars-Saturn conjunction is the highlight of Monday, giving tremendous focus—or putting the brakes on forward movement. In addition, there is a lot of both flowing and challenging energy. The Taurus Moon squares the Saturn-Mars conjunction, increasing edginess and irritation. Benefic aspects include a Moon-Neptune sextile and a Moon-Pluto trine. Monday holds a lot of planetary activity. Since the Moon is in practical Taurus, where it is exalted, expect these aspects to work in your favor. Make it an active, productive Monday.

Venus enters Pisces, its sign of exaltation, on Tuesday. Sensitivity and compassion will be heightened during its month-long stay in Pisces until May 2. On a different note, Mars squares the nodal axis, increasing tension, and perhaps triggering something that we may or may not want to happen. Mercury and the asteroid Pallas Athena conjunct, sparking strategic, creative ideas.

Wednesday, Mercury’s Day (Miercoles in Spanish), is a mentally active day. The mutable air sign Gemini Moon is curious and communicative. Benefic lunar sextiles to the Sun and Mercury stir ideas. Lunar squares to Jupiter and Neptune magnify the mental energy and may take us out on tangents, yet far-reaching thoughts may be generated. We can be inspired to act upon at least one good idea by nightfall as a result of the Moon’s trine to Mars.

A Mercury-Saturn sextile Thursday gives good energy for thinking through a process or project. A Mars-Eris sextile gives strength and courage which can be put to good use with domestic matters after the Moon enters Cancer at 8:30 a.m. PDT. Our focus Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are on home and family matters.

Once we get past the sensitivity of the Moon-Chiron square Friday morning, we can benefit from numerous positive aspects. A Mercury-Mars sextile helps clarify thoughts. A Moon-Uranus sextile may bring unexpected opportunity.

Saturday morning gets off to an easy, go-with-the-flow start with the Moon aspecting Jupiter and Neptune. But then the day gets cranky with hard aspects (Moon square Mercury and Eris; Moon-opposite-Pluto; Mercury-square Pluto). We are prone to fiery disagreements as the day wears on, so keep your cool, and be careful not to be triggered. Focus on meeting your emotional needs, and those of others.

Sunday is exuberant and playful in the light of the Leo Moon. The Mercury-Pluto square invites us to dive deeply into our thoughts. A Moon-Uranus square may take us off track, and may result in an unexpected diversion.

On Monday Saturn exactly squares the nodal axis, signaling a moment of truth both individually and collectively. The playful Leo Moon trines the courageous Aries Sun, giving zest and vigor for new starts and bold next steps.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
