In the Stars April 5-12, 2020...shining light on the astrology of the week: Full Moon

March 20-April 4th was a period that harbored four significant, powerful conjunctions. Although Mars has now moved past Saturn and Pluto, in the coming week we have Mars squaring Uranus which is another turbulent, volatile aspect. Jupiter has just made the first of three conjunctions with Pluto, a dynamic alignment which can empower and enable breakthrough through truth. This week holds a potent Full Moon. Venus has just entered Gemini where it will stay for four months until August 7th. This is unusual, as Venus usually spends about three weeks in a sign. On May 14th Venus turns retrograde until June 25th when it turns direct again.

As a reminder the astrology of these COVID-19 times includes the Pluto/Saturn conjunction, Mars being out-of-bounds until June, and the nodes in problematic Nakshatras (arcs of 27 divisions of the zodiac) Ardra and Mula, according to Vedic astrology, and a challenging yoga (Kala Sarpa) where the planets Sun through Saturn are all on one side of the nodal axis. So what to do when the planetary energy is so intense? Be careful, intentional, and focused. Remember that also we can use this tremendous energy for good. Much can be accomplished. Breakthroughs can happen in solving deep problems and doing our work. Mars and Saturn will be conjunct at 0 degrees of Aquarius, the sign of invention and innovation.

Palm Sunday is a relatively quiet day astrologically, giving us some peace and calm to put our lives in order with the grace of the orderly Virgo Moon. Enjoy the day, especially after this extremely active, volatile week!

On Monday the Virgo Moon makes benefic trines to the many planets conjunct in late Capricorn and early Aquarius: Pluto, Jupiter, Pallas Athena in Capricorn, and Saturn and Mars in early Aquarius. The Moon is void of course all morning until 2:16 p.m. PDT when it moves into Libra. Use the Virgo Moon to tend to routine tasks, and hold meetings and things requiring connection until after 2:16 p.m. PDT.

Tuesday is yet another potent day. The Moon reaches its fullness in Libra, making an edgy square to Jupiter and Pluto—a bold, dynamic grand square in cardinal (action) signs. Adding to the power and complexity of the day, Mars and Jupiter are exactly square which can portend recklessness, or innovative building and breakthroughs. Mercury in Pisces makes an opportune sextile to Jupiter and Pluto, giving insight and intuition. The Full Moon in Libra (Moon)-Aries (Sun) invites us to re-balance our own needs with those of others. Occurring while most of us are sheltering-in-place, this is a bold, powerful Full Moon that demands consciousness, intention, and hard work. Lean into it fully!

Challenge is the word for Wednesday as we face numerous squares of the Moon: to Pluto, Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars. At the same time, the Moon opposes Uranus. This day is filled with edgy, volatile aspects. The Moon is void all morning from 5:50 a.m. to 1:17 p.m. PDT, a time to tick to routine tasks. At 1:17 p.m. PDT the Moon moves into Scorpio. Tackle a big project—or a lot of little ones to use this dynamic, powerful energy wisely.

Thursday, Passover, is a relatively quiet day in the cosmos. Feelings run deep as the Moon is in Scorpio; we seek solitude, probably easier to come by now unless we have school-age children. The Moon makes a sweet trine with Neptune, giving inspiration, compassion, and creativity. Relax and withdraw and give yourself some self-care, welcome after the intensity of the last three days.

Emotions draw us deep to what matters on Friday morning. In the afternoon the Moon bounces into sunny Sagittarius to lift our spirits, making benefic aspects with Mercury and Saturn. Mercury moves into Aries tropically, a welcome relief as it emerges from Pisces where it is in it fall, or weak. Mercury will uplift us into action as it traverses Aries. With the Moon in Sag, we want to travel and be social, but since most of us can’t do that, find other ways to express it. Host a Zoom call with friends in far-away places; settle into a good book that lifts your spirits; or plan your next dream travel adventure.

Mercury makes an opportune sextile to Saturn on Saturday, giving discernment, focus, and balanced thinking. Moon aspects Mars and Venus, amplifying love and passion. The Sagittarius Moon draws us to adventure. Be expansive and adventurous while at the same time discerning and practical.

Easter Sunday is a day for relaxation, though this is not your usually Easter Sunday. Create a ceremony for yourself and those you live with to celebrate Resurrection. The Moon is void of course all day until 5:05 p.m. when it moves into Capricorn. Relax into something such as reading a book that takes you to faraway places.

Monday’s Capricorn Moon supports a lot of work to get done in a careful and steady manner. An early morning lunar trine to Uranus gives a charge, but otherwise, it’s a quiet day before tomorrow which sizzles with powerful aspects.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it’s difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
