The Full Moon, a supermoon, occurred early Saturday morning, January 3. A supermoon occurs when the Moon is at perigee, closest to the earth. It appears bigger and brighter than usual. January's Full Moon is referred to as a Wolf Moon. This is the fourth consecutive supermoon, and it will be the last one until November 24, 2026.This Full Moon is a strong, action-oriented one, as the Sun is conjunct Mars and Venus, and the Moon is loosely conjunct exalted Jupiter in Cancer.
The Sun is in Capricorn, along with Mercury, Venus and Mars. This week Mars, Venus, and the Sun again are within two degrees of each other. We will want to get down to business and take action on our desires this week as we begin a new year.
Mercury, Mars and Venus are out of bounds (OOB). A planet is out of bounds when its declination is greater than 23:26 degrees south or north of the ecliptic. When planets are OOB their activity is more unruly, erratic, and free. We could do a lot of out-of-the box creative thinking at this time this coming week. It is a good time to try new things and do things differently.

The Week Ahead:
Saturday, January 3, the Moon is in Cancer. The focus is on home, family, and comfort. The Moon reaches its fullness on Saturday at 2:02 a.m. at 13:01 degrees of Cancer. Optimism is ignited as the Moon is near Jupiter. Make this day count with what you initiate and produce.
Sunday and Monday, January 4-5, the Moon is in Leo. On Sunday morning the Moon opposes Pluto. There may be power struggles, or you may be determined to push through a difficult problem. On Monday the Moon makes an inconjunct aspect to the Sun, Mars, and Venus. Though we may meet with some challenges, our determination and conviction help us figure out ways to work with them and move forward.
Tuesday through Thursday afternoon, January 6-8, the Moon is in Virgo. The Virgo Moon signals that it is the clean-up time of the month. Wednesday is great day for getting practical things done. Venus, Mars, and the Sun are conjunct in the industrious sign of Capricorn, and the Virgo Moon trines this trio. The Virgo Moon conjuncts the South Node. Astrologers Ralph and Lahni DeAmicis dub this a “white circle” day, a day with strong supportive aspects. These are good days for furthering work and projects. Use this good energy wisely. On Thursday the Virgo Moon opposes Saturn and trines Uranus. While you may meet some challenges, you will probably quickly figure out ways to solve them in clever ways.
Thursday afternoon through Saturday, January 8-10, the Moon is in Libra. Friday and Saturday are challenging days—Saturday especially so. Jupiter in Cancer opposes the Sun, Mars, and Venus in Capricorn. Saturday morning the Moon makes forms a tense T-square with these opposing planets, and then the Moon is void of course nearly all day from 9:54 a.m. through Sunday at 2:55 a.m. If you are planning to do some after-Christmas weekend shopping, do it on Sunday rather than Saturday. Saturday is best spent on inconsequential household tasks. Avoid potentially heated situations prone to conflict.
Sunday through Tuesday afternoon, January 10-12, the Moon is in Scorpio. Feelings run strong. You may want to withdraw and take some quiet time for yourself. Dive deep into a project that requires research. Planetary energies support you to continue to be productive.

________
Moon Void of Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
