In the Stars April 9-16, 2023 . . . Shining Light on the Astrology of the Week
The Sun is in Aries tropically for the week ahead, symbolizing adventure, initiation, and courage. The exalted, fiery Sun challenges us to take action and make things happen. Thursday and Friday are turbulent days due to the Sun’s conjunction with Eris, and both square to Pluto.
We are moving closer to an intense eclipse period from the Total Solar Eclipse April 20th through the Penumbral, or Partial, Lunar Eclipse May 5th. The eclipse period can be volatile and it is best to keep your life as simple as possible during this time.
Mars continues Out of Bounds (OOB) until May 4th. Planets are OOB when their declination is more than 23 degrees, 27 minutes. When planets are out of bounds their energy is wild, unique, and extraordinary. The planet expresses itself unbounded, or without limits. People may be much more courageous and outspoken than usual. Because Mars is explosive and impulsive, volatile energy may be unleashed.

Easter Sunday is uplifting, yet sobering. The Moon shines in Sagittarius, making a tense square to Saturn and a benefic sextile to Pluto early in the day. The Sagittarius Moon is both social and spiritual; Easter Sunday gatherings are blessed.
Monday is an optimistic day, sporting the Sagittarius Moon that aspects nurturing Ceres, expansive Jupiter, and visionary Neptune. Venus moves into Gemini where it will reside until May 7th, enlivening conversations and generating good humor. (See Ten Things to Do with Venus in Gemini below)
We may have a slow, distracted start on Tuesday due to a Moon-Neptune square early in the morning that begins a void Moon period until 10:32 a.m. PDT. Then the Moon moves into hard-working Capricorn. The rest of the day is strong and full of enthusiasm, in light of the exalted Aries Sun’s conjunction with Jupiter. Use this bold, confident, grounded energy to make strides.
A Moon-Mercury trine on Wednesday morning supports productive conversations. Later, a Moon-Uranus trine opens us to new, futuristic ideas. This can be a productive day. You may feel overextended, though excited, by evening.
Thursday is a stormy, volatile day. The Sun conjuncts Eris; the Moon squares the Sun and Eris, and conjuncts Pluto. The Sun is impulsive in Aries, and tumultuous events could be triggered by these alignments. Go about your day mindfully. A Moon-Venus trine eases tension through social interactions and curious exchanges.
Confrontations regarding financial or relationship matters may surface Friday in light of a Venus-Saturn square. The Sun-Eris conjunction may provoke another tumultuous day. The Moon’s squares to Mercury and Uranus may add to the turbulence, but at best the aspects can ignite new ways of thinking and problem-solving.
The Moon is void of course most of the day on Saturday from 8:15 a.m.-3:56 p.m. PDT. Thus, the day is better suited for insignificant chores than for weekend shopping and meetings. There is greater ease than the previous two days due to a benefic sextile of the Moon to the Sun and Eris. Evening may be somber, as the Moon conjuncts Saturn, reminding us of limitations and responsibilities.
Sunday’s aspects are soft and easy, inviting us to slow down and go with the flow. Do something inspiring, creative, and unusual, or take a dreamy walk or saunter in an art gallery.
Monday holds a long void Moon period from 11:56 a.m.-6:09 p.m.in Pisces. This time will be undefined and open to distractions. Monday holds sensitive energies. If you can allow yourself to follow your intuition and proclivities during this time, you will be well served. At 6:09 p.m the Moon moves into bold, quick, independent Aries, and you may be able to take initiative before the day is done.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
