In the Stars August 14-21, 2022 .... Shining light on the astrology of the week ....

The Sun is in fun-loving Leo for another week, fostering good energy for the last of summer vacation. Students are returning to school, and as of August 22, the Sun will be in studious Virgo tropically.

A Mercury-Uranus trine mid-week opens us to new ideas and perspectives. Then Mercury moves in opposition to Neptune, lighting up next weekend with imagination and inspiration. Mars happily moves into Gemini on Saturday where it can move at a faster pace than the last six weeks in Taurus. Mars will have a long seven-month stay in Gemini due to its retrograde motion that begins October 10. During this long period we will be more open to new ideas and perspectives, and we may speak more freely.

Sunday is a day of mixed planetary energies. A Pisces Moon-Neptune conjunction melts into the flow of time. The Moon’s sextile to Mars and Pluto adds energy and passion. The Moon is void of course from 8:10 a.m. to 1:42 p.m. PDT, after which the Moon bounces into vibrant Aries. In the evening the Moon makes a benefic trine to Venus in Leo, drawing us into imagining new endeavors for the week ahead.

The work week starts Monday with an energetic bounce on Monday as the Moon and Jupiter conjunct in Leo. This ushers in the last week of the Sun’s stay in tropical Leo. Summer vacations are coming to an end, so enjoy the Sun and the fun.

Tuesday is an active, productive day with numerous benefic aspects. The Aries Moon sextiles Saturn, trines the Sun, and conjuncts Eris. A Mercury-Uranus trine will open us to new realizations. However, we may feel challenged when the Moon squares Pluto. We relax in the evening, indulging in life’s pleasures, as the Moon moves into Taurus, the sign symbolizing comfort.

We languish in the light of the sensual Taurus Moon on Wednesday. However, Taurus’ ruling planet Venus is square the Moon, making for some discomfort or feelings of insecurity. A Sun-Eris trine helps us break through stuckness. An expansive Venus-Jupiter trine is at play, giving optimism and feelings of abundance.

We bask in the glow of the Venus-Jupiter trine on Thursday, Jupiter’s Day, giving confidence, expansion, and generosity. A Moon-Uranus conjunction stirs up rebelliousness. However, the Moon, Uranus, and Mercury all aspect Saturn, increasing the potential for focus and insight.

Early Friday morning Mars conjuncts the Moon at the last degree (known as the Anaretic degree, symbolizing fate) of Taurus, giving a boost of determination and confidence. Then at 5:06 a.m. PDT the Moon moves into Gemini and calls us in many directions. We are friendly and curious and want to move about our world. Wind down your work week by addressing communication that calls. Gear up for a social weekend.

Saturday’s big news is that Mars makes its ingress into Gemini. Since Mars is active and quick, it is likely relieved to be out of plodding Taurus, tropically at least. Usually Mars transits a sign for about two months; however, Mars will be in the sign of the Twins for seven months, due to it going retrograde October 10th. During these seven months there will be a greater intellectual curiosity and stimulation. People may speak more freely and forcefully. Mercury is opposite Neptune, giving inspiration, and igniting our imagination for the next few days.

Sunday’s Gemini Moon is in the midst of a tense, mutable T-square with the Neptune and Mercury. The best potential for this strong aspect would be vision and mental clarity on various issues. We consider various perspectives.

Monday’s Cancer Moon beckons us to work from home if at all possible. The Sun ingresses into Virgo in the evening. Mercury trines Pluto, sharpening our mental acumen and ability to get to the heart of matters, The Week in Short:

Sunday: The day begins with creative flow, and a void of course Moon until 1:42 p.m when the Moon bounces into energetic Aries and invites creative projects.

Monday: Optimistic, energetic day. Make it fun!

Tuesday: Active, productive day with new insights. Enjoy a relaxing evening.

Wednesday: Optimistic day, with perhaps some discomfort. Breakthroughs possible.

Thursday: Confidence, expansion, generosity, and rebelliousness, as well as focus and insight.

Friday: Tend to communication that awaits attention, and gear up for a social weekend.

Saturday: Active day for conversation and connection. Be inspired and imaginative.

Sunday: Draw on vision and mental clarity, and consider different perspectives.

Monday: Work from home if possible. Enjoy a playful, creative day.

Moon Void-of-Course: This is the time when the Moon makes its last major angular aspect with a planet before it moves into the next zodiacal sign tropically. This void time, when the Moon is not aspecting a planet, but rather floating on its own, is a time when things don’t come together and it is difficult to make good decisions. Purchases made during void Moons often turn out to be unsatisfactory and not work out. Appointments often don’t come together, and meetings don’t result in progress or sound, lasting decisions. We more easily get lost or meander in trying to get somewhere. The VoC Moon times for the next month are listed below so that you can plan meetings, decisions, and purchases at times when the Moon is not VoC; and use the void times for gardening, reading, and routine task work.
